Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

FYI jimmy died No, I already saw the season finale when I wrote that post. I had no idea (some people too) that it was a prison If you go back and look, it has guard towers and a chain-linked fence. I can't think of anything else that fits the bill.

Begs the question, why did Shane start losing his mind? Seemed like he was being affected by some external source. I suppose it could have been emotional trauma from Lori but it seemed more visceral than that

I always figured he never really "lost his mind" he was just free to be the man he could be given the absence of law and the circumstances he found himself in. He thought he had a family, a role as protector and provider, and even a son. Then Rick comes along and says "Oh hai, I'm not dead!" Add to that the constant conflict over differing ideals and how to handle decisions and you've got a situation where someone just finds themselves more and more at odds with the status quo. From there I imagine for a few personalities it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to "Why the fuck do I bother with this shit? There's hardly anything left of the old world - if I want what little piece I think is mine, who is to stop me from fucking taking it? This 'friend' who I don't even get along with anymore? I don't fucking think so - he's an incapable twonk."
Regarding the last episode:
I wasn't happy with the last episode. It feels like in an effort to have this chaotic action scene all common sense went out the window (for the writers, at least), some of those deaths were like... 'uhh, just hit the gas and go?' Also, don't you think Herschel, having lived in that area his entire life would be like, "Hey guys, I think there's a prison just down the road which may or may not be safe. Something to keep in mind, though." Fuck, it was so full of weird inconsistencies it was pretty disappointing. There have been a few times this season where I was like "Oh Em Gee! Soooo good!" and others where I was like "wut?"
Ahhh well. I will be there for season 3

Have to say though, gotta give props to Andrea for becoming a gunslinger and not crying her eyeballs out like Karol would. 'Course Andrea doesn't compare to a random chick with a samurai sword and 2 zombies behind her.

From my understanding its if you get bit and you fight the infection you won't necessarily become a zombie. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You die when you're bit. You can't fight the infection. But you can chop off the limb if possible and maybe live if the infected blood hasn't circulated through your body already. And you turn when you die

I can't believe the amount of bs Rick has to put up with after all the things he's done for them.

Fight off the infection that they're already infected with? I'm talking about everyday infections that lead to the fevers that take most of their lives. Could it not be fought off with antibiotics assuming you had some in a zombie apocalypse.

But you can chop off the limb if possible and maybe live if the infected blood hasn't circulated through your body already. And you turn when you die There may be some inconsistencies if we examine this too deeply. You say you can't fight the infection - everyone is already infected though. If you're talking about bacteria, then it isn't a guaranteed death sentence. Yeah you might die, but there's also a chance your immune system defeats the infection. It really depends on the person, their health, and what happens to be in the bite. Chopping the limb off doesn't seem to make any sense though. If you're worried about bacteria then getting rid of the limb is going to be worse than cauterizing. If its the virus then it's already in them right?
Also why did Shane turn right away, whereas Andrea's sister took hours and seemed like it was all night before it happened? I haven't seen that episode in a while but the bite wound didn't look bad enough to make her bleed out in 30 seconds like she dead. Could be wrong though...

I hate Lori.
How can she still give her husband so much cold shoulder shit everytime he does something logical / rational.
Logic / rationality escapes her completely.

I think in The Walking Dead, the zombie bites aren't the "thing" that turns the survivors. Everyone is infected. The reason people die to the zombie bites is because of the amount of bacteria that are in their mouth. That causes the bitten person or people to get sick, high fever, bones ache, and what not, they die to that. Since everyone is already infected, they just have to die, from anything basically, and they turn. Look at Shane. He was stabbed with a knife and he turned. Randall got his neck snapped by Shane and he turned. If the person dies from brain trauma, then they won't turn.
Thats just what I gathered from other people in the thread.

If you remember in the first season finale, Jenner said it depended on the person. Some people could take minutes, hours, days to turn after they die. It all depends on the person. I believe it was Jenner who said it.
*sigh* stupid quoting thing screwed up.

No. Helping in the explanation to make things clearer. Although it does seem to look like I'm re-explaining. Just trying to help people understand.

i dont get why you needed to drive around and shoot things. if the intent was to lure the zombies away, couldn't they all hide in the house, and take 1 car. do a few doughnuts and head down the road? and recoiless infinite ammo shotguns are annoying. can they just try and make it practical. its the end of the world, how much ammo do these kids have. hopefully the prison will thin the herd.
