Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

When I first saw the episode, I saw him shoving the kid then he shoves him one last time and kid goes out of frame and you hear what sounds like twigs snapping. I thought the kid tripped and ended up getting killed by the fall. Then in Shane's rage that he can't escape them finding out he bashes his face on the tree to make up a story about how the kid got away. I didn't get that was his plan to kill Rick and he actually killed the kid himself until I read this thread lol. I didn't catch it either... just thought he tripped and died on some trap that Shane made lol. Other than when Shane was letting the kid go, I either thought he's getting excuse to just kill the kid, go to the others camp or just make some "win-win" plan to kill Rick. I kinda was expecting his death since it was unavoidable, not just because of the comics but overall. I though hope he'd died way earlier. End season was better than the 1-8 episodes but I just hope that they will be at good shape at season 3.

It was pretty clever to get Carl the one who shoots Shane though..

I admit I l liked the whole scene, but for future endeavors - when you lure someone away from a group for a final showdown, get a map or something so you don't end up like 200 meters away from your starting point. Fucking Villainism 101 right there.
Also, is Carl supernatural? I'm not even kidding here, considering the way he can sneak up from anywhere to any place, he must have at least some set of special skills. He may grow up to be Batman. We'll see, no spoilers pls.
On another note, funny (and by funny I obviously mean sad) to see how a few people are trying to speculate and think about possible explanations for the kid's and shane's transformation, while it's being consistently spoiled for over 15 pages. Oh well.

Yeah, i'm like bored of this show, turning into a fucking drama show rather than an action/fantasy type that the show needs to be.

That's what the comics were and that's what people have been saying this show aims to be for the last 100 or so pages. If it took you this long to catch on, I'm sorry you wasted your time.
It's not meant to be an "action/fantasy type" show, and I don't think it needs to be.

I see all the complaints about this show not having enough action and zombie kills, but imagine having a 2 season (about to be 3 season, probably longer) hour long show that just kills zombies without having any good drama. Not much of a tv series is it? Movies can pull off the all action type of cinema, but a tv series cant. It needs drama to sustain itself. Just look at friday night lights. Not really a football show

I agree but there is a good drama and bad drama. Guess what we have in The Walking Dead?

Good drama? :D Because I personnally love the drama in the show so I do not see why everyone is complaining. Sure, there is a hugeee lack of zombies in season 2 compared to season 1. But the drama is still fun to watch. It shows how hard it is to keep and re-create a society in a crucial moment of their lives.

I like the show and all, but I'm not really buying much of the drama in this show. Parts of it makes sense, like the girl trying to commit suicide because she'd rather die by her own hand than end up a walker, but all the jealousy and petty discussions? The world just ended, I'm pretty sure that'd instantly trivialise some of the everyday modern problems, that somehow arise in this show.
I kind of don't like the location of the farm, part of what makes zombies cool is the "tight corridor, claustrophobic, few exits"-feel that you get in the cities. Being out in the great outdoors takes away some of the suspense that traditional zombie-movies have, where you never know what's waiting around the next corner -- by not having any corners.
|
I don't mind about the lack of zombies that much, the farm setting is slow and boring and I take this show for what it is this season. But one thing they did a huge blunder with this season is character development. They had the perfect setting for this, a slow season with alot of drama and "dead time" without that much zombie action or action in general taking up time. They pretty much only focused on Rick, Shane and Daryl when it comes to this. All the other characters have almost gone backwards in development. They are so bland that no one gives a shit about them or just hate them. I mean, the T-dog situation has even turned into a freaking meme for god sake.

Drama between two male characters on this show = awesome.
Drama between a male and a female character on this show = soap opera.
Drama between two female characters on this show = facepalm.
The argument between Lori and Andrea was the worst:
"We're in here peeling apples and folding laundry while all you do is vigilantly guard our children from zombies!"

Keep in mind they've been going for almost a year now, so it's not like it's the first few days of the outbreak. Plus you can argue the opposite, the constant stress and despair is going to really mess with people's psyche and make them do crazy/stupid things.
People who are critical of the show aren't necessarily wrong (they're often right), but they put way too much faith in the ability for people to act rationally in extreme situations.
One problem of the show though is the people are too happy and it makes it seem odd when they do irrational stuff.

The latest episode was mind-blowing. It turned out that the most popular theory about what Jenner whispered to Rick is correct.
Who knows if the virus is man-made?
That explains why a group of soldiers shot everyone (who was not a zombie) in the head in the hospital at the beginning of S1.

Actually, I highly doubt it, since Rick seemed very surprised that Shane turned into a zombie at the end. Really seems he didn't know.

I don't think so.
I think he had a flurry of emotions going through him and he was a little more suprised that his son shot zombie Shane or witnessed him kill Shane.
I would have to re-watch the scene but I don't think he was that caught of guard.

You should read some of the other posts in the thread and stop bringing stuff like this up, the show is about the people in the apocalypse and what it does to them.
Its not a massive kill-fest zombie action show like the movies, also the last couple of episodes have been pretty exciting pick a better time to bitch about stuff that has already been discussed.

Daryl now takes the spot for best character of the series, if he didn't have that title before that is.
Pretty good episode. The second season isn't as good as the first one, especially with the ultra slow start to the season, but overall it's OK. Finale looks like it'll be interesting.
