The thing is, this movie has an amazing concept and all, but its like 'yo guys how we gonna sell this flick? ...GUNS ! ' So it was okay but they just turned it too much into an action movie that used the dream concept as a plot device to get into different sorts of actionscenes. I also really didnt care about the storyline of the guy who's dad died, not too sure why but I found it a weak enforcement of sympathy/empathy and again, plot device. I know it's a hollywood film so holy-shit-bullets-everywhere-action! is pretty much a given. But still, they could've made this so much more mindblowing I believe.
Totally unrelated, but I saw Mr. Nobody yesterday. Quite impressed by that one.

In general, when movies get really hyped up, you'll almost always end up getting disappointed.
It was the same thing for Avatar and The Dark Knight. All of my friends were like " DUDE THIS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING AWESOME " and etc. And even though Avatar or TDK weren't bad, they just didn't live up to my expectations.
Luckily for me, i saw Inception when it premiered. I had average expectations, and my mind ended up getting blown.
The movie's concept is great, i'll give it that. But it has a main drawback - the fact that it was created for commercial purposes by hollywood producers. You just cannot name a movie which has so much Rambo style action sequences, with machine guns shooting non stop and whatnot, a masterpiece.
lol I loved the movie.. but I have to agree to much put into the action of it.. But seriously it was really good lol. Its the first english movie I have seen in years..
After all the hype, I raised my expectations, saw it, and still absolutely loved it.
I thought about things like "why, if Nolan made a film about dreams, is the imagery not particularly surreal? The environments feel too rooted in a reality we know, when it could be so much more surreal."
But, when I dream, the places I see are based on what I know... so maybe it's not so strange for the dreams to have such a normal environment... (also, consider the involvement of the architect, which almost makes my initial thought a pointless one...)
Also, i thought "It somewhat feels like a vehicle for a bunch of action scenes," but it still worked for me. O_O
Just watched it last night. Pretty cool overall, but the longer it went on the more I got annoyed. They were all like "hey 3 levels deep....nobody's ever gone that far, and then they were like "yo dawg I herd u liek 4 levels". And the end was dumb. How can you share a dream with an awake person?
Just watched it, was a good film, i liked it, but was kind of disappointed. I went to see both this and dark knight with massive expectations, for me DK produced while this kinda fell short. I thought the concept was pretty easy to understand and follow, only thing that confused me a bit was what the inception plans details were, and exactly how they were going to do it, but apart from that i thought it wasn't that hard to follow. A note on the ending:
Personally i would of rather seen him with a gun to his head after seeing his children, with the top spinning, and then a gunshot at the end before you see if the spin top fell or not, that way you don't know whether hes gone mad and thinks the real world isn't real, or if hes just figured out he's in a dream, or if he actually committed suicide.
I just saw this. Highlights: -Epic music and scenery/environments -Dream within a dream within a dream (within a dream?) -Dynamic gravity changes -Unlimited ammunition -Humvee with snow tractors instead of wheels
What I liked about this movie, is the fact, that everything in the dreams can be explained by the sole fact, that it is in the dreams. Unrealistic gunfights? Why, its just us in the dreams fighting projections.
Memento #1, The Prestige #2 and The Dark Knight #3 imo (of his work)
but the movie was rather good and entertained rather well. I gave it a 4/5 star on my current movie community however i still think the movie "tryed" to be more epic then it actually was. The story was rather easy to understand and there was more action and drama then an actual good story. I also thought the movie was rather short to explain such a big story, i felt it got rushed a bit on some parts for example on the we need a new architect part. + Show Spoiler +
First they wanted a new architect, she tryed stuff and then wanted to go away but minutes (video length wise) later she was already back to rush in and start the whole project while being nearly flawless at the job.
Again i think the movie itself is rather good and i can understand it attracts this wide public attention however the reason i liked Nolan movies so much was more because of the brilliant/genious storys that was worked out so well in a movie. I think he did a rather good job trying that with Inception however i think he tryed to improve his previous movies a bit to much and in the end ended up with a somewhat 'worse' movie.
i think this movie is most comparable to matrix. mind blowing, in a way. a movie you can understand thoroughly after watching at at least twice. great action. great plot explanation. acting? inception hands down.
