1) Lycan on ult killed Fly 2) They killed Sven while he was hexed Both scenarios didn't happen, so, I can't see them winning at this point. I mean that's possible with little of EG help but..

I think after Timber laning failed hard, they realized they had to go late even though it was sub-optimal. Maybe they could have pulled it off if they had a second rat hero.

Maybe they could have pulled it off if they had a second rat hero. Their cores couldn't afford to get picked off when they do that, but they shed too many deaths. Optic always had that problem last season. ppd is clearly trying to work out a 3-core lineup generally (at least this tournament), but they really haven't found the right mix since Day 1. Other problem is NiP ended up with very little actual applicable damage. Slacks' suggestion of (edit) Prophet was probably the correct one for the last pick hero, somehow.

But their only initiation was Lycan popping ult and running in. Probably would have helped to have the Ursa be their main initiator, even if blinking into EG's heroes doesn't exactly feel good. But at least you can try to kill one person with him and Lycan and give space for Timber and Shaman to throw some spells And for a last pick of the entire draft the Timber ended up being pretty underwhelming. Something to bring some lockdown probably would have made playing easier

It was the anti-pick pretty hard, even if Timber's lane hadn't gotten destroyed. They just had to pick the Razor and they'd have been fine. I get they wanted to shut down RTZ, but that almost never happens. EG will sell out to prevent RTZ from being shut down.

Are there even any teams that ever shut down RTZ? It doesn't seem like there's even a road map from another team that NiP could follow.

In some patches it happens, but mostly what happens is RTZ takes all of the farm from the rest of his team. And NiP still isn't drafting great damage. (I've had this complaint about ppd's drafting since at least TI6 era.) Edit: Okay, they picked a Huskar. That's a lot more damage.
