Why does BSJ have so many followers, is it just because he has a funny name and looks decent??
Because he has streamed for a long time regularly and he produces quite a bit of educational content. He probably wouldn't be as popular if more pros streamed, but almost no western pros do it regularly these days so there's room for other people to grow pretty large followings.
I'd guess Roons will at least look to pick more proper stuns. Somewhat miserable to play when they have no way of killing anyone with Ember chains and Brew boulder as their only stuns against Jugg and Storm

He also had a period of being brutally flamed by CLQ for playing horribly in pubs, which somehow contributed to his popularity in an ironic way.
What happened was coL has picked Necrophos in every game it was not banned - incredibly predictable. Sneyking has talked time and time again that hero's uncounterable. They picked 2 heroes to counter it in both games, and outplayed Sneyking so hard.
A lot of it is the drafts I think. In the first game RNG didn't really counter the 1st pick Necro in any way and instead he had a good lane and was really good against DK etc. Now the Nyx+Mirana combo has made his life completely miserable in both games. Ahfu also constantly was able to find pick offs with the arrow follow up. And in general in games 2 and 3 taking fights seems rather hard for coL. Not sure how much better they could have done in lanes in these games exactly, but when they got behind they didn't really have a chance to do anything
A bit surprising that coL's adjustment from game 2 was to ban the Morph and let the Nyx through. Then the games had the exact same openings and it didn't go so hot for them
e: Actually in the first game Necro was the last pick of the first phase instead of straight up first pick so I guess that explains why it didn't get so countered
