top tier 2 lel Wings has been the practical definition of a "Tier 2 Chinese" team all year. Which is why them qualifying was a tad surprising. (Though it was like 1 week after the Chinese Shuffle, so they were the only stable roster during the qualifier.)
I recall they 3-0ed VGR to get here, so they can't be that bad.

It's because there were no world class Chinese teams back then. The biggest team they had to go through was VGR, and a worse VGR than we saw a week before.
Now there might be one - Newbee - but we've yet to see their international ability.
Fact is, China has very few top teams at the moment. All the old players' teams, except for Newbee, are doing bad. While the new players' teams lack experience. They'll need to increase their skill quickly, else this year is already beyond them.

And the fall of all star teams like Secret, and most of the chinese teams before the shuffle. Now, the chinese teams have realised this and shuffled accordingly. However, Secret funnily enough, have not.
Having a high mechanical skill also matters. Just look at young players like DJ, MidOne, Sonneiko, Miracle and Ramzes. They seem to be dominating right now. While Arteezy was in the same position a few years ago, he's mechanical skill and ability to dominate the game on his own has deteriorated. Empire has really been the shocker, half their players look like teenagers and they dumpstered the godly Team Galaxy All-Stars.
because they are teenagers.. ramzes is 16 .. :D
midone is from fnatic is 18 , i think

The qualifies were roughly 2-5 days after most of the teams reformed. It was practically their first practice sessions. But, Wings has some stable strategies and that's going to win out against a freshly made roster. They're not incompetent.

Their 1 and 2 players (especially the mid) are both pretty legit I think. The team is also versatile and solid enough to stand their own, they looked better than complexity in both their series for example and coL aren't exactly a bad team.

it's not that they are bad... there are plenty of "tier 2" teams in every region... look at europe's qualifier listing, wings will probably give a good fight to most of that qualifier excluding the likes of alliance, navi etc..
but you never going to bet on them to win against the regional invitee such as EG, Fnatics etc...

With respect to China one just has to lelz at how bad most of the old players are doing at the moment. CDEC, VGR's other team, Xiao8's team - all of them aren't able to even get past the groups of Chinese tournaments, which simply proves, in my mind, that these old players were long in need of change but had been able to stay in top Chinese teams only because of their past results.
It's only the new players and new teams that are doing well. Except for Newbee. Don't know why Newbee is different. Is it that time of the year again?

their players gel together pretty well..i love iceice as a support , they will be serious contenders for chinese qualifiers, i think..from what i have seen shadow is really a type of carry player who relies on momentun..

Complexity wasn't playing well and they refused to do what Fnatic just did to Wings. Wings rotates their supports really deep to the other side of the river, and tend to leave their Safe & Mid-lanes really open to being shut down. complexity also gave up too many mid-game pickoffs. These were things Swindlezz should have adjusted to, but just didn't.

Newbee has always done well domestically so that's no surprise really.
We will see if a tier 2 Chinese team can rise to the challenge come major/TI time, we might get another CDEC but let's hope we get some thing permanent.

China is resigned to the fact that, Enchantress ban or no, DJ is going to dive deep into their jungle and harass and damage and peel players away from the towers and wreck their early farm.
It's quite a talent.

I wouldn't rate complexity anywhere near the top of the international competition really. They've done jack shit until Shanghai.

PL, Specter and Doom on the same team. Lion and Enchantress might have a good time here during the laning phase.

I believe they won a LAN qualifier or two and took 3rd/4th at DotaPit between Shanghai and now. They were the #2 NA team in the run up to Shanghai.
