new year is China is huge. They all head back to familys to celebrate the week.

Not going back home is pretty rude from what I've gathered from friends work or not

There are plenty of athletes in western countries who practice/work/compete over christmas or new years eve. Taking an entire month or several weeks off when you know there is a major competition just around the corner is both unprofessional and immature. I've spent plenty of red days with my nose buried in assorted course material, because that's what I had to do to get a decent grade.

These guys are supposed to be professional athletes. Time to start acting like it.

This holiday is more like Christmas, New years, birthday, thanksgiving rolled into one event. There are fewer paid holidays in China than in the "west". All these "no excuse" posts straight up lack perspective, showing lack of maturity and depth in the poster.

Must be very convenient to be able to simply dismiss any dissent on the subject as being born of a lack of maturity and depth. I am perfectly open to the argument, but the random insults make it far less compelling.

I maintain that taking time off is a personal choice. As a pro player your schedule will largely be determined by tournament dates rather than a standard 9-5 week. Sometimes they overlap or conflict with holidays. That sucks. It's still not a valid excuse.

edit: Your posts seem very defensive. If you are more familiar with this particular holiday than us, how about simply explaining why it's so important rather than throwing around snide comments that don't really help anything?

Starts calling Chinese players immature and unprofessional then gets upset about being called out for lacking maturity. smh

Again, nothing but random oneliners. What prevents them from practicing at home? And how is my comment in any way related to their not preparing adequately for this tournament? I called their behaviour immature and unprofessional, because I felt it was true. I reject your claim that this somehow makes me immature. Simply calling someone a poopyhead doesn't actually make it true.

You don't travel half the country to play Dota at your family home, and whatever you play anyway isn't going to be useful practice. People just don't work during this period. It would be somewhat different if it was an individual sport (except not really because nobody will be around to practice with you), but that's not the case.

Your immaturity might lie in the fact that you can repeatedly assert what you "feel is true" about a topic you know nothing about without considering how your ignorance might be skewing your views.

Once again, I don't think there's a valid excuse for how badly the chinese teams have showed up. But people who know nothing about chinese culture need to stop spouting this bullshit about unprofessionalism.

Different cultures have different values and opinions on things you might differ with.

maybe when you have a week or 2 to actually spend with your family in CNY getting to the PC and playing vidya is both being a dick to your family and also not respecting your culture and whatnot.

Probably In sweden that might be different but you have to understand that the world doesnt go along with what you think is right or wrong, and there's cultures when your ancestors and family are highly regarded and need to be treated as such.

Yeah TS really needs some more pushing power but I don't see what they can get to achieve that.

With all the drama on reddit about how Chinese production value sucks, it's shameful because the huomao stream I'm watching now seems to be running okay. I guess we just don't give a shit about the English viewers.

You seem to like ignoring everybody else except Macro.gg so this might be futile but I'll answer none the less, CNY is literally the only time for some people to visit their families. If you cannot fathom how someone would be you know, actually interacting with their families over the period of a holiday that is basically meant for family interaction instead of hunched over a computer playing Dota then there's really nothing anyone can say that will convince you otherwise.

Its still a shit excuse because Fnatic and MVP should both be equally affected as the Chinese if you use CNY as an excuse.
There is no need to be mad.
