But the obvious change from MDL to now is the performance of other teams, such as Secret, who looks to have improved, and the Koreans, who look to have improved several times over. Were this to hold for other Western teams, then this tournament is already decided - the Chinese are going to lose, the West is going to win, with the Koreans having a shot at taking it too but not necessarily a big one because Secret is, after all, not even one of the three best Western teams in the tournament. We have every cause to trust that the bulk of the teams ought to be playing at a higher level than they did a month ago because of the fact that this is a larger tournament and the fact that they've had a month to prepare. But we've seen, today, that Ehome is actually playing worse while CDEC is still as bad as they were before, so this lack of improvement on the side of the Chinese teams is specific to their region. One explanation is the time of the tournament - ie after new years for China - but another explanation is simply that this is the same old skill they've had since the middle of 2015, and thus it's just a return to normal after MDL, which Western teams didn't prepare for. Whatever the case, I want to say the following: last year when they held a tournament at this time, the best Chinese team in the group was actually Xiao8's retired players team, while the Koreans were dead last in the tournament. Is this eHome won, even if they were bad, because Western teams had been on a holiday, even though it was only OG? What indicative is there teams come in playing better, when only MVP come in and look better? The best of Western teams have had little to no action, since MDL, and very little prior to it. Isn't this, "We didn't win, because we didn't prepare"- a bit too lazy, and in line with the excuses both of us didn't like from the Chinese fans/teams of old? I understand it fits in with your narrative that eHome stopped the bad chinese run of not winning tournaments. How about giving credit where it is due? Western teams had several teams ending at good positions, thus very little indication that they were worse in relation to competition. Needless to say, eHome were just better, therefore giving them flak for MDL seems odd. Who are "We"?

Q: How did you celebrate CNY, would it affect your preparations for the major? ice3: I went back to Singapore for CNY. It sucked because lots of stalls are closed and I didn't get to eat chicken rice. Then I went to my wife's (nickname for gf I guess) place but didn't find chicken rice around there either. Bad CNY cos no chicken rice. We also didn't train much because of CNY, maybe only 7-10 days. B: CNY is booze meal sleep and play dota2 fenrir: eat sleep and hang out with friends. This time the schedule is tight and we didn't get enough training and preparation. super: Just eat and sleep, that's all. fy: Stayed at home with my parents and family. This is the most comfortable time of the year. Q: What do you think of Dota2's development this year? super: there are more major events. The Chinese scene is not doing well, it feels like a lot of other teams are not very motivated for the tournaments. The foreign teams are a lot better in this regard. Q: what do you think is the difference between Chinese and foreign teams? super: Just on Chinese dota, there are some fresh blood but they perform poorly, there is only the old guard playing. Foreign teams have very strong fresh bloods and the older players are willing to give them focus, so that's a difference. Q: Predict VG's group stage. B: We always start well and finish poorly, so I want us to start poorly and finish well this time. The first game is fnatic, I heard they are 80:20 when scrimming with Ehome. They changed mid and found good form, may well be the black horse this major. We played a bo3 scrim as well and got 2-0'd. Then we will probably play spirit and hopefully secure a wb slot. Q: In MDL Ehome won, do you think a Chinese team can win the major? fenrir: Honestly the foreign teams are very strong this time. The chance of a Chinese win is very low. It's all up to Ehome, the hope of Chinese dota. This was before Ehome lost, of course.

The only players you don't see on the top 10 of the list are the ones on top professional Chinese teams, lelz. In fact, I don't think I have seen them being in the top 10 for a while.

Before the games yesterday Bulldong said that they scrimm'ed MVP and they were very strong, perhaps Fnatic will surprise us too ! Also nothing on stream 15mn later And a static image and no music so it's confusing I always think my stream crashed ><

Word seems to be because they play their IHLs way more, and the leaderboards require you to have at least one game within the past 2 weeks or something.
