Because a team that plays that poorly should still have an equal chance of winning as the team that beat them?
Yes because cdec is the only team not given a 2nd life. The sole reason why there is no winner's advantage is due to having a hyped finals but it comes at the expense of integrity and fairness. This is not how double eliminations tourneys are run. All the tournaments like evo/sc2 etc run double elimination tourneys properly and fairly.
EG already played today, so there's your winner's advantage.
This.
It is what it is, please lets not debate the validity of CDEC not having a "second life", like in every tournament ever.
That's really arguable advantage since you can say EG have the momentum, while CDEC have a fresh match.
momentum is such a theoretical concept though. actual rest and more time to observe opponents isn't.

I guess you never had to be this stressed for this long.

Nah you lost for sure. EG winning means nothing. EG were legitimate favorites to win this tournament and anyone who follows/understands DOTA already knew this coming in. Everyone who knows DOTA also understands that china has the most talent top to bottom.
Sumail > everyone in China, PPD > everyone in China, Fear ~ Chinese top players... I'm able to go on but don't need to.
China hasn't won a single tournament in recent months.
Take whatever you want from this. But I win.
You lost, China won at least 3 tournaments including 1 international LAN with your favorite-before-TI team.
They won 2 premier tournaments of 11. And only SL12 had decent western opposition.
Things are like they were back at TI3. East has 4-5 top teams, West has 2. West 2 are probably a little ahead of the pack.

But they had time to see their drafts vs LGD and figure out their playstyle. I doubt any team would hold back strats in the lower bracket finals.

And if you are the better team you have 5 games to show that you deserve 1st place. Stay salty.
If you're the better team then you shouldn't have needed a 2nd life to begin with. Valve should do group stage into single elimination if they don't want to run a double elimination tourney fairly.

The concept of momentum is something so silly in sports... As it has virtually no resemblance to the literal meaning of the word.
EG had 2 hours to think about plans for CDEC, already a bit tired, probably prepared 99% for LGD. Yeah, I dunno, I don't really buy the winning the previous match gives you an advantage for the next match.
At worst, EG and CDEC come on an even playing field, and I think that's fine.
