I am no expert, but to me it feels that many teams evolved their picks and strategy around a meta that was dominated by Secret over the last couple of month. But at the same time it feels that during the tournament many teams just start to divert from that and we really saw some fresh dota yesterday. If Secret can turn it and adjust they will be the champions that were promised but now they have to actually show what they are made of - maybe they just had a bad day, maybe they got too cocky or maybe they lost confidence during the group stage in wich they had a lot of close games that went their ways because of big mistakes from their opponents. Looking forward to this. Bear in mind that because nobody was going out of the tournament in group stage, it may have caused some teams to just hide some strategies that they would use in the later stages of TI. It seems to be the smart choice: you can run a sub-optimal draft and try to outplay your opponent, but if a team has an ace up its sleeve, then blowing it in the group stage wouldn't be helpful for elimination situations.

Valve hired the specialized company OptaNet to put in two separate 10Gb lines and an additional 1Gb wireless circuit for the event (source: http://www.optanet.com/optanet-deliver-core-network-at-the-worlds-largest-esports-tournament/). The issue is that the way TCP/IP is designed there is no way to prevent a DDOS attack once a target IP or IP-range has been identified. Hiding IPs for an event with so many client devices and people involved is next to impossible. So how can we prevent this? The brutal truth is, that apart from hiding your IP there is no technical solution to prevent DDOS attacks. You either have to literally change the way the internet works today or you have to eliminate the gigantic bot-nets that enable these attacks. Neither of these things can be accomplished by any company on this planet by themselves. And figuring how negligible a problem DDOS attacks are for the majority of the planet, I doubt we will see any change anytime soon. Well that's what my IT-guy friend told me... Maybe he left some things out or dumbed shit down... or he was just full of shit... That is the exact same thing I have been hearing for years. That it is almost impossible to stop a DDOS attack before it happens, because they are just as flexible.
