They don't really change the base game mechanics. NP used to be that way when there was no backdoor protection on buildings (same with Clinkz), but ever since that happened which was a long ass time ago he's been fairly balanced for the most part. The thing with Wisp and NP is that yeah they can be global and go anywhere, but you can say heroes like AA, Zeus, Spectre, etc. are similar in that they have global map presence, and that all of those heroes are about still killing the opposing team and fighting. Techies is totally different in that if he does get ahead (or even when behind and still gets significant farm), he claims lanes and restricts movement so bad, and is the only hero that can starve supports to an unreal degree. Yeah you have to be careful when playing vs a Wisp line-up because they can gank you anywhere, the thing is that you can still bait that. What the fuck do you do once you allow Techies to claim a lane? You have to slow clear literally for 10+ minutes. Basically Wisp and NP are still about killing heroes and showing up to kill them (even if they can be anywhere), the thing with Techies is that you're not fighting Techies, you're fighting fucking mines half the time. Essentially, Techies is the only hero in the game that can deny huge swaths of the map to an entire team, you can't really say that NP or Wisp are capable of doing that. They in a way do so, but they still put themselves at risk when they area denial. Techies is the only hero who is capable of doing it with no risk of himself (other than when putting mines down). | ||
