I don't know that a good captain/drafter is rare, so much as it seems a lot harder for people to appreciate. It's dead obvious when someone is good at playing 1 position carry. Apparently it's not obvious when someone is good at drafting. I'd extend that to offlaners, since you mention them. I don't think good offlaners are rare so much as people don't understand what they are supposed to do and thus subject practically every single one to the same script about being horrible feeders.

Then why are you even talking? A Western year does not indicate that all Western teams do well. I thought I went over this: Chinese teams rise and fall together, but the same is not the case for Western teams.

pld was not better than ee, they both shared the same issue where they choked in important matches against formidable opponents and drafted weird as fuck after losing close games
bone7 also shares that latter trait incidentally
though i guess their elmination game at ti3 was a passable draft, they just threw their chances of playing the draft properly with the level 1 roshan call

So in the interest of re-watching the Bone7 Phoenix to see how he lost lane that badly, I got to see that he wasted his first 300 gold after Boots to buy Orb of Venom rather than finishing Tranqs.
Also, he didn't start with Boots, but bought it from sideshop after FB, and more or less just didn't know how to lasthit with Phoenix.
