Thats how a lot of sports and competitive stuff works. This year EG is better. Maybe next year C9 will be better. It doesn't make them a scrub tier team. Now TT, however.....(shots fired)

Not many teams beat EG "when it matters" considering they've won WEC and SL and barely lost to VG at ESL after TI. c9 lost 2-1 at SL and ESL and 2-1, 2-0 at WEC finals. Another final they played was earlier in the spring at Monster Invitational or whatever when c9 still had Sing and Demon was standing in and then EG won 3-2 in the finals if I remember correctly. I don't think they've played each other in the playoffs of any other LANs, so every time c9 has still taken maps of EG.

However I can't actually remember the last time C9 beat EG when it mattered.

However I can't actually remember the last time C9 beat EG when it mattered. If "when it mattered" means an elimination game on LAN, it hasn't happened I think. But it has been "only" 4 events in the span of 9 months or so: Monster, WEC, ESL and SL. If we talk about LAN generally, c9 won here at Dreamleague 2-0, they won at TI groupstages, and they won in the upper bracket final of the Monster event 2-0.

Although I think c9 has a decent shot, I don't think one can put them as the favorite given their history with EG (even not taking the games from today into consideration). c9 has to show that they can win a series like this first before one can consider them favorites.

I don't know how you can see c9 as a favorite against EG. Anyways all this talk assumes they win their first games which is far from certain considering how bad they looked today.

Well they did their clown9 things against VP, but their games against VP.P were pretty straightforward. And if there is a team that can look like complete ass in one game and really good in the next it's probably c9. I think it's very likely that they beat VP, not that likely they beat EG but unlike VP they have a decent shot to do it imo.

Either recently changed or a bug. edit, Bug. A mod/admin changed the start day but didn't touch the games. So they still had their old times even though the event itself is today.

And no one ever goes into a tournament thinking c9 is going to win it. Hoping, yes, but never betting.
