Like c9 experimenting with this draft. Gah. Bone

Good they're testing out these different styles out.

I like different styles but holy shit i think c9 have lost every game where ee goes a playmaking-esque hero like storm, puck, invoker you name it.

these terrible medusa builds irritate me. He didn't even come online until he got a Rapier at 45 minutes and even then, the Zeus+ET were doing most of the work. In fact the only reason C9 managed to try at the comeback was that they picked off the Zeus two times without buyback before starting the fights.

He hasn't played Puck for well over a year even once, Invoker a few times at and before TI but always with the afk farm exort Invoker build throwing sunstrikes so the hero is like the opposite of playmaking-esque (granted his lategame Invoker play hasn't been that impressive in the games he played it). But of course you are right in the sense that c9 often have Fata or Bone or both on more playmaking heroes, though hard to say from the outside whether it is because they've failed with EE on some heroes in scrims or if they just prefer to play it like that.

But why go afk farm invoker when the enemy team has an even harder carry like morph. Those invoker games always had bone on offlane void and a sky support. They would do extremely well early with chrono+sunstrike+sky ult combos but then they would fall back to the 4p+1 and squander their lead. EE would try to solo push safelane t2 with book3 and die or the other 4 would try to engage and lose a 4v5 fight. Then the lead would decrease to the point where the harder carry would have more farm and eventually lose the game.

This is pretty much what happened this storm game. They had a plan to get pickoffs (nyx, storm) and push early with a core jakiro and enigma. Relatively early (11min) mek and they're holding their ground early game. and then for some unknown reason, they go into a farming war with a medusa and hardly engage until 40 minutes in.

I didn't see the c9 vs VPP game today so can't comment on that, but as you said they generally had something to combo with the Invoker sunstrikes, and my point simply was that it's not on EE to find the openings to get the sunstrikes. But I agree that in comparison to other teams c9 wasn't really able to utilize Invoker to the best of its potential, first not necessarily finding the right pickoffs with sunstrike support and then not using the pushing power of QE Invoker to group up at the right time. I don't think their goal often was to take it to the late game with it (and they did have some games where they managed to successfully push with their advantage), but in some games they just played it poorly.

Early game his invoker is fine. but when you're lvl 25 and 40-50 minutes in, you shouldn't be split pushing with book3 which he did on numerous occasions. early on, he doesn't have to be a playmaker but after 25 minutes, invoker really is a get shit done hero. and ee seems to struggle with all of them.

It's just frustrating to watch when other teams like VG get a relatively early gold lead, they go do chrono -> meatball combos and get objectives. this denies farm/exp to the enemy team and enhances your lead. EE split pushes and inevitably gets picked off once or twice (other team starts creeping back) or attempt a smoke gank 4v5 and lose spectacularly. I'm usually ok with this if envy is playing terrorblade, naga or morphling. but on storm or invoker? come on.

Indeed, I don't really disagree with that. I feel c9 in general has some issues compared to other top teams with handling the tradeoff of getting xp/gold efficiently by splitting up and grouping up either for objectives or to protect some guy expecting the opponent to make a move. A good example recently I think are some of the games where they picked Omniknight for Aui at the Summit. Although I think they won in the end, they had these moments in the mid game where Omniknight is the hero that would protect everyone on their team from ganks or guarantee duel kills for LC if he walks together with his teammates. But instead they split up completely, and I specifically remember there being several fights where c9 tried something and meanwhile Aui was farming on his own on the other side of the map. Not that it's only Aui's fault, obviously someone else can say to him to come join the team. Of course there is a time where getting the free farm on other side of the map when something happens somewhere else is great, but in some games there comes a time where you should play it a bit safe and group up and solidify your advantage.

Looking okay for Tinker honestly. No carry has buyback on VP, while troll and LC have buyback in less than 90 seconds.

Split push dota is quite good, and Nature's prophet has almost 5k gold, a new item will be coming soon. One not great fight for VP, and they will definitely lose at least a racks.
