Their only chance was dealing enough damage to him before he can kill the entire team, and the BKB + drums would have been far away from the damage needed, not even supports were dying, you also have to deal said damage to a naix that was starting to get tough to kill. The problem wasn't the build, since it was a last ditch effort anyways considering the situation, any other choice would have been just as poor. The problem was NTH's inability to control Alchemist's farm. Or their strategy, if they actually intended to let Black farm, that's just wrong. getting items which have absolutely no hope of getting you back in the game isn't irrelevant like they had so much disable that loda could have had 2 rapiers and he still wouldn't have done anything. If he was feeling desperate why would he get a sange and yasha in the first place? A shadowblade has more hope of being an escape/positioning tool, and does more damage too (by a little) He wasn't the reason they lost, but his item choices (and the random feed) definitely closed the door

Living with BKB was irrelevant because what you need in that situation is damage. Maybe S&Y is debateable, there are better choices for damage, but as a last resort, DR is a decent choice, considering it doesn't matter if you have BKB instead, you just don't have enough damage to do anything. Even if, say, he manages to kill a support in those fights (hard, considering Jakiro is pretty tanky for a support), he would have died to alch and naix no doubt, alongside the rest of the team. Once you let Alchemist get so fat so fast with a lack of powerful disables there's nothing you can do, it's almost as bad as having a giant bear knocking down your buildings, you just can't do shit.

I guess the best way I can put it is this - so with his build best case scenario you kill the supports and maybe one of the core before you die then alch or naix (who both have magic immunity and gap closers) get a divine can you not see how that has no hope of working, pretty much no matter what? The yolo divine call was potentially okay/normal, he just couldn't do it with the bracer > sange and yasha start (against those heroes). As it was just getting a BKB would have done more
