The entire dota scene EXISTS on skype. It always has. Skype is where you have contact with other players, with tournament organizers, with casters, with your team management, you have skype groups with your team, with your manager, with your common scrim partners, LFScrim groups, inhouse leagues etc. etc. You basically NEED to have skype in order to be an active part of the pro scene. And just closing skype doesn't stop you from getting DDOS'd, you need to actively reset your IP, which is a hassle. tl;dr get a VPN for skype

assuming the possibility that it is a ddos, the ddoser(s) mightve had less interest in eastern matches

While they are far ahead, missing out on a whole hero is pretty bad. Besides, getting a good RP when the enemy only has to focus on 4 heroes is even harder. I would've gotten a standin and gone for a remake. So did this also happen in WePlay, Bigpoint, and TPL? Can we stop discussing DDoS until we see some definitive proof? As said, this isn't hard to get if a player is actually being DDoS'ed. All the problems have been earlier in the day, with western teams, it could just be Valve's servers which are utter shit the past week.
