So the format may be like the International. Where the top 2 teams go to the winner's bracket and such. Ah yeah. Makes sense to have more games with such a high prize pool.

With the brackets released, some analysis can be applied:
In group A, we have clear top 3 with most possible 1,2) DK / LGD 3) MUFC outcome, in group B we don't, but currently TF are favored over all other teams to advance in first place. RSnakes and LGD.int are ought to fall into the loser bracket round 1, so it leaves us with A3 vs B4 and B5 vs A2 matches. With this kind of situation, NaVi would like to place either 3rd or 5th in group, because they would have better chances to analyze and counter DK / LGD than MUFC, unless something unexpectedly changes in the group A power balance. In order for Western team to achieve a 3rd place, both iG and Zenith are needed to fall. If iG break out of their slump, they are in top3 of group B, and definetely pass UB round 1, and we can have MUFC vs Zenith SEA derby, where I personally give an upper hand to Singapore. With all things considered we have 1) TF 2, 3, 4) Orange / Zenith / iG 5) NaVi in group B.
Even if NaVi wins against 2nd place of group A, they meet the 3rd place of their group, and the winner of that match meets TF. It means that TF is guaranteed third place, and NaVi are guaranteed to drop into LB. At the other UB semifinal, we have the winner of group A against the second place of group B, and every team which is not iG would have to go to LB against LGD / DK. If both of them are in LB, they reach round 3 and play in different matches against Zenith / Orange / NaVi (MUFC are eliminated, iG are in UB final).
That gives us two final opportunites: iG, TF, one of LGD / DK in top3, one from LGD / DK, Orange, Zenith / NaVi in top6 or TF, LGD / DK top3, Orange, iG, Zenith / MUFC top6, NaVi top8. As it clearly seen, everything depends on iG's form.

I really hope iG does well ASAP but you can't take anything away from TongFu, LGD and Na'Vi. Na'Vi's playstyle can wreck the other teams because it's non-Chinese. I haven't seen LGD.int do well recently but in overall recent form, I think the favorites may be TongFu and LGD.cn.

Updated with the schedule of the groupstage matches. GOGO Na'Vi!
|
We have approved LGD.int's request to forfeit their first two matches, against DK and RS. All matches will remain at the same time, here is the updated schedule.
LGD.int has an important time clash which was only mentioned two days before the first match. This decision is dependent on receipt of documentation proof. LGD.int will also: 1. Receive 14 penalty points for two match losses (7 points each), in accordance to the rules. 2. Forfeit 20% of their prize. This will be redistributed to the top three teams (other than LGD.int) with a 50% - 30% - 20% split.
We are happy that LGD.int will still be able to play in the tournament. We thank the other teams and the audience for understanding.

Well, that's a shitty deal, the team I was the second most excited about forfeits two matches. Scheduling is a bitch, I guess.
By the way, what do you people think of the format? Especially the idea of putting the best team from the groupstage further up in the elimination stage. I feel it's completely backwards thinking... It's exactly the team that plays the best DotA that I want to see the most matches of, but with this system I see the least of them. It's not such a big deal here, but I really hated the way they did it in G-1 league... Alliance were the most hyped up team after the groupstage, but we only saw one bo3 from them.

I liked G-1 format as well though.
I think Alliance not playing until final made that match bigger. It's not like "you crushed group stage so you get the slightly easier team in the playoffs".

Why the hell is CK using the bottle ?

Jeez! ES + Visage doing work! Also that sentryward placement in mid and some nice BKB reaction by Sylar. LGD is just 2 steps ahead.

Ok that was one of the most anticlimatic hackleshots i've seen.

We regret to inform you that our international squad will not play the first two matches of the Alienware Cup as Braxton "Brax" Paulson unfortunately had to travel to Hong Kong to renew his VISA.
We have tried our absolute best to re-schedule our matches, and despite the efforts of the organizers, it was unfortunately not possible. We would like to apologize to dpmlicious, the organizer of this amazing tournament, as well as her sponsors who have kindly accepted to fund this tournament. We also would like to apologize to you, the fans, who wanted to watch our international team in action.
This is our mistake, and this will not happen ever again.
This does not affect our Chinese team who will play their two matches today against MUFC and RattleSnake.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the problems caused...
Best regards, LGD-Gaming
