One under-explored aspect of the new backpack mechanic is that one can freely move items out of their backpack while they're in range of a shop. Right now, this mostly just makes shopping easier; one can buy items and use them right away without making space in one's inventory first. But it doesn't only apply to newly bought items, so there are some ways a clever player can use shops to their advantage.
The cooldown trick = Items cool down slower in backpacks. When you're in base, or hanging out at a secret shop, move any items on cooldown into your main inventory. This generally gives you only a few seconds.
The tango trick = The side shop also counts as a shop. You can freely use consumables out of your backpack with no drawback as long as you're at the side shop. This is most important with tangos, salves and clarities during the early laning stage.
The shrine trick = The trick of putting mana pool items into one's backpack when using a shrine is well-known; it slightly increases how much mana one gets from a shrine. Both offlane shrines are barely within range of a secret shop, so be sure you're standing on the correct side of the shrine when you put those items back into your main inventory.

I dunno if it still works but I like the raindrop trick.
If you have one or two charges left, you can switch them from backpack to avoid the last charge getting proc'd by a random spell in lane.
This is handy when you value mana regen over life, especially VS laners that spam spells like Zeus or something.
Takes a lot of clicking but is generally worth it

if u got something completing coming in and you know its gonna put other stuff on courier into your backpack with empty inv slots due to the bad combining programming bullshit
drop another item right as the courier comes and pick it up and nothing will be in your backpack yay

while splitpushing nowadays I often move to the sideshop area to tp back home to the fight if we get pushed to have no cd on tps. More or less the same as tango trick.
The obvious one should be tranqs in lane. Dropping them often feels a bit bad and while I still drop them when jungling, in my offlane I more often put them into the backpack cause putting them on the floor feels risky.
Shrine trick applies to any kind of regen really. When I bottle up, salve up, use arcanes, sometimes even when I rotate and have a clarity running my stats items go to my backpack. Oh and ofc when I use soulring for a huge mana net benefit.

late game / ultra late game aghs swaps are useful too. I use it most on nature's prophet, you can aghs ult to push lanes out and then swap in a more useful item since prophet tends to go more DPS.
Works with heroes like void as well

Meracle's Diffusal trick - Keep a locked Diffusal Blade 1 in main inventory and a Diffusal recipe in backpack. Unlock the Diffusal Blade when it runs out of charges for an instant refill.

I move my TP into my backpack while it is still channeling (I always get two) so when I get into lane I have another item immediately available.

If you are radiant offlane you can get alot more value out of tranqs when farming the jungle camps since the secret shop is so close.

items put in from backpack take about 6 seconds to reactivate, but then there is an issue with reaction time and forward thinking when it comes to getting your items back the second after you are done with shrine/regen. because of this, some people prefer to drop items when they know that it is safe.
assuming you want to get in good habit and you have the slots to support it early on, backpack is risk free if you understand the cooldown timer and pre-plan placing your items in backpack and immediately placing them back in right before you hit shrine. the stats don't take effect until they're active again anyway. you often save a second or more on waiting for your items to come back, especially if you know that you don't need the full duration of the shrine.
salve is 8 seconds, so you wait one or two second after salving to place your items back in, instead of what players typically do which is starting to swap the items in only after the salve is done.

Imo when farming jungle and you have a rough idea where their sups are dropping trangs is still the better method. Backpack feels really inefficient when I'm jungle farming, especially since I don't spam heroes a lot and often can't really estimate if I need less than 6 seconds or more for a camp. But there's no real reason to miss possible regen anyways if it's somewhat safe.

Ye but the point is if you are jungling radiant offlane camps, you can just make sure you kill the creeps near the secret shop so you can just put them in your inventory just after you killed the creep, makes you not have to wait those extra 6 seconds. It's not much, but every little bit count, aye?
