Hi guys, My mmr now is 4k. I've been stucked here for more than 2 years. Can someone please give me some trick to get over it? I'm good at mid role and carry role only.

Well there's your first problem.

If you want to climb out you're going to have to do whatever gives you the best chance of winning.
Which means learning to play the other roles as well.

You're going to have to provide more information if you want actual help.
A dotabuff link for starters.

@Jaeger thanks for your advice bro. Here is my dotabuff link: http://www.dotabuff.com/players/286818708
Ofcourse I can play support or offlaner too, in case the team contest other role and it's actually worse than mid or carry.

Watch high level mid players, check your cs at 5, 10 minutes. Are you behind them? If so why. Did you make a rotation and get kills so you missed cs? Are you not being efficient?

Look at a game where you think you played well but lost. Did you not tp and miss opportunities to turn around ganks. You never want to solo carry the game and have you be the only farmed person on the team in my opinion. Sure it happens, but if you are doing well mid, tp-ing to turn around a gank and saving another lane and helping them have a good time means you have more farmed allies to back you up.

Do you have a positive attitude? Do you help people not tilt? As someone who is also around 4k, you have to babysit them, if not physically, then mentally. Don't let them tilt ,keep them thinking you can win.

That's some advice I can think of off the top of my head.

Is that your only account? You only have like 150 games on there.
It only has 3 heroes with double digits games played.

Be happy with 4k if you have so few games played.

You gotta grind way more games if you want to improve.

@The bear jew Thank you so much. Btw do u guys have any tricks for farming fast and farming partern or some kind like that?
@Jaeger Actually I played maybe ~2000 hours I think. But my play style changes for each path. So I think it will be better if I show u my latest stats. If u wanna see all, here's my old account: http://www.dotabuff.com/players/196376279

probably a smurf account

my advice would be to play versatile heroes that are difficult to counter from picks alone or counterpick well if you get to pick 4th/5th. be very critical of your own play. i make tonnes of mistakes even in games where the scoreline suggests i completely dominated the other team

here's an account that I calibrated at 4k flat which I got to 5k with pretty quickly by playing carry exclusively. my main weakness in playstyle is that I don't like to fight early and prefer to take the game into the mid-late where I have more of a buffer to make errors due to superior farm

For farming, depends on the hero you are playing. I typically play offlane or support so I don't do heavy farm. So pick a high mmr player with a game on a hero you want to improve on, download their replay, and watch them.

Bear gave really good advice. The problem with mid to upper 4k bracket is that everyone and their mother tilts at the first sign of something going bad. Your job is to do well enough and to make a big enough impact in the game at all points in the game to ensure that they always feel like they can still win. Ensuring that your team always feels like they can win is the #1 way to climb, as morale is far more important in a pub game more than skill actually.

The good news is that your stats are improving. Your farming seems to be gradually improving over time, you're giving up 13% fewer deaths than you used to, and all of that comes in spite of increased kill participation. Even though you might feel "stuck", you're improving in the background, you just haven't hit the tipping point to push past your current plateau.

Are you sure this is the right account? From the Dotabuff profile it doesn't look like it ever got anywhere near 5k mmr, or more than about +500 above its initially calibrated rank.

(E) Turns out I was indeed looking at the wrong account... which wasn't the account you linked. Oops.

Yeah, it literally says that it has 5k mmr, unless you can't see it near the top.

This is probably the best advice. Some of the most important things that helped me get out of the high 5k range were learning to direct morale and also learning to fill in on any position/role to avoid conflict with arrogant players that absolutely need mid/carry every game. I spent a few months playing support/offlane in about 50% of my games. Now I mostly play mid/carry again, although I'm fine giving up those roles if someone else claims them first or insists they play them. Honestly, just do your best to never be the guy that's spamming GG at 5 minutes. That's a "4k for life" sign

For the record I hit 6k (currently 6085 or something) 2 weeks ago and I'm also working on getting my 2nd main account to 6k (it's at 5.2k). And these are honestly some of the most important things that stepped my game up.

I've seen so many players stuck at low 6k that could be 7k+ if they didn't give up or weren't hated by half the playerbase in NA (Bakuryu for example). Being toxic is such a detriment to winning the game.

ive been saying this thing lately , did i come up with it myself? did i read it on reddit?

it goes like, if someone is crying then you say "(guys we can't change what happened,) lets try to figure out what we should do next"

you should always be thinking about what the next step is to win . its easy to go afk in the brain but winning dota is about thinking about what you need to do in the next portion of the game to win

just making them stop crying by saying "guys lets try to figure out what we need to do next" is sooo fucking good, they shut up right away and start thinking lol

also here is my insane voker play from today

Well, if you main goal is to climb you need the following in addition to being a good carry/mid

1. Learn at least 1-2 solo support heroes, personally I like Lich (you always get some XP), Silencer (game winning ults) and Venge (Swaps out of Chrono/Batrider ult etc). This is critical since there will always be some asshole throwing a fit when they don't get mid or carry and go jungle
2. Learn at least one roamer Bounty/Riki, at 4-5K if the enemy gets away with a jungler while you have 2 supports in lane game is often lost (and its so easy to stop)
3. Don't be toxic, apologize for things even when its not your fault, compliment your teammates
4. Buy dust when needed even if you are not support.

CM is my pick for games when you're mad everyone just picks cores ("fuck all 3 lanes were taken i'll pick riki and run around and be uselss all game a farm a 30min diffusal because at least i wont have to support then!!") which fucks up your lineup.

Money is easy to come by by killing a camp here and there with frostbite. Tranq+aura gives you infinite sustain so you dont have to go base just because you spent some mana clearing a jungle camp or two. You can easily upgrade cour on time while buying all obs and the needed amount of dust/sents. And you dont end up lvl 4 at 13min. And on top of that you actually help your team just by existing.

Its not high impact, but its pretty care-free. Works surprisingly well at 6k too. Do your shit and let the others win the game for you. If you lose at least it wasnt because you got 7min upgraded cour and 12min brown boots with 4 wards in stock. CM games are so much more enjoyable when solo supporting 4 cores than most other supps.

There's some really great advice from many people on here so anything I say regarding single pointers really is just going to be a repeat. The only new thing I could offer is a mindset to play under. That mindset is: "I'm the Juggernaut, bitches".

I don't mean the hero, Jugg, I mean the word's actual meaning. If you are a nearly unshakable (not phased by trolls or tilting) and consistently check yourself at timing benchmarks using top-level player marks as the standard, you will inevitably rise in mmr. The most important ones are checking your farm levels by 5 and 10 minutes if you're laning or if you're jungling, its how fast you get your item rush or level 6 (if you're jungling supp like enigma) so you can come online and be useful by hitting a powerful earlier timing than people at your mmr can handle or may even have thought possible. Doing things CONSISTENTLY like that will mean you're always way ahead and a serious threat to your enemies. Just doing those basics well right there will make you at least 5k+ if not 6k+. That was the only way I knew to climb the mmr ladder. I just broke DOTA down to exactly what all video games are; a numbers-manipulating game through mechanics. glhf on your climb! I know it sucks

It is also important to never flame or teach your teammates.
They won't listen, but might get angry and throw the game.

@Bucky Thanks for your summary, I didn't even realize it :D U just summary it by using the stats on dota buff?
@Exoretic how can your KDA be so high? Can u give me some tips for that?
@MidnightFox ty so much for that advice.
@sCCrooked ty too I'm actually trying to do that
@Kreb ty for your guide to CM, I will try to do it well at next time playing CM
@Hop ty for those advice
@FFGeneration Yeah somtimes I really stucked like that too. Sometimes I feel like in all team I'm just the only one to know what to do, what they do and lead the team but my attitude is not so good at all so really hard to command them.
@studde123 yeah I'm falling in love with storm so badly recently cause I really dont know why my KDA with storm always much more higher than others heroes some how :v
@TheEmulator @superstartran Really really thank you for that advice. I've just done that in some games before and actually that thing helped the team a lot, look like all can play with 99% of their true skills instead of blaming others or smt like that.
