I think that if valve buffs the clockwerk cogs to their old state, exort invoker could maybe make a comeback without making him overpowered.

exort invoker is perfectly runnable without clockwerk; i don't even consider clockwerk a top tier sunstrike setup unlike shadow demon

Interesting, i liked picking clockwerk in combination with global abilities, maybe i should consider other options more often. Of the newer dota heros lc could maybe synergize well.

why is invoker never picked in pro games? i dont watch much dota but i haven't seen an invoker game for like a year

/just started playing invoker

vg won their last major lan with black^ on splitpush invoker

resolution hasn't been playing mid, dendi hasn't been picking invoker, arteezy and envy both have super questionable invokers, ig's been slumping, ddz got shamed out of dota, h4nni can't find a team... puppey hasn't been picking s4 invoker, nobody on teamtinker plays it...

idk i think wex is strong this patch and exort is fine with sunstrike setup from the sidelanes (shadow demon, sand king, idk), but there's a lot of cores considered strong nowadays, it's nothing like mid 6.79 era when invoker was actually in the first ban phase for a lot of teams

cool reply.

i think invoker is awesome, the only reason u wudnt pick him is u dont want the stress and shame of knowing u cud have played better. most heroes , even puck (who i've now got from 15% winrate to 65% and feel reasonably fluid with in shit mmr), feel relatively stressfree. i only played invoker 2-3 days now and reckon if i become fluent it would be amazing. but u see pros pick 1-button heroes like void (when he suddenly became popular) and they make so many obviously shitty panic plays (void is one of my common heroes and watching some pros do stuff you know is panic moves, like chrono when you dont need to, or not chronoing when you should have, using timewalk at short distance because of panic etc) is really sad. so why don't people in particular like to play invoker? its still 100x easier and less frustrating than playing/learning broodwar

btw is it just me or has general dota population skill risen by like a massive amount in the last 6 months? im playing at 2.3k mmr right now (dropping due to casual play) and its like the players are as good as 3.3k players if not a lot better on average. it might just be that the difference between mmr is really not that big to begin with

people are also a lot nicer on average i feel. idk if its because the latest patch made dota seem super casual (ez to comeback/stay in game without being depressed. games are super long and come down to buyback, then no one really cares who won because they "done their job" and just dont have a buyback, so they dont feel like shit afterwards)

edit: you bottle on invoker? i dont think the ingame guides recommend it but i fucking love bottle on every hero. if not for yourself but for healing /mana teammates is rediculous

oh yea, lc bat and void are all pretty good for holding someone in place for sunstrike

when you watch a good exort invoker though, they'll follow up almost any stun across the map with a sunstrike, not just big ultimates

It's not like it's hard. A ton of minor stuns give enough time to guarantee sunstrike, it's just whether the voker is paying attention. You don't really need to pick special setups for him.

It's less about Invoker needing setup for Sun Strike, and more about Sun Strike helping heroes that need a little bit of supplementary burst damage to solo-kill a lot more heroes. This is why Cent+Invoker was popular for quite some time last year before Cent's nerf.

What is the correct way to skill venge? I see a lot of people only put 1 point in stun then max the wave and often the aura as well before leveling the stun more. The stun doens't scale very well and it increases mana cost, but early game wouldn't the extra 225 damage from the nuke be better?

It depends on the game. Generally in pubs you want the stun to be maxed because most pub games tend to favor simple higher burst/single target damage. Things like aura max or Wave max tend to be suited for particular kinds of games or teamcomps.

Support venge often gets under-levelled in competitive due to how swap works. This means that you won't have howl maxed when it is time to rosh if you go stun max first. You also won't have it when 5 man starts. A marginally better stun isn't as good as max howl or aura in mid game scenarios.

When I play Venge, it's all about looking at the lineup and peak timings. Do you have a PA? You like that minus armor now, maybe you should max W. Does she go BF? Maybe you can squeeze in another level in Q and still max W in time to when things get heated up. Do you have a strong right-clicker elsewhere, but your team is pretty mixed in damage? You can max Q if you want to.

I always tend to go 1-4-1-1, even going 1-4-4-2 and going stats over stun. For three skill points you get 0.3 seconds of stun (and 225 damage) meaning that you surviving the swap offers more to the team than 225 damage. It's definitely flavour and I get situational deserved flak for it - but I trade 225 damage and 0.3 seconds on the stun for 114 HP, ~0.86 Armor and 78 mana. Most of the time, I take that trade.

just played YET ANOTHER 60++ min invoker game where i have 320 cs because my team takes an ez mid rax but then keeps going mid and feeding for 30 mins straight instead of trying to take another rax. how do you stop this from happening? i tell them on audio and in text for literally 20 minutes "stop going mid" but it happens so often (many games) and for SO fucking long. i think it could be because our midgame seems so strong that they are confident to just keep going mid but it becomes teamwipe after teamwipe after teamwipe and they don't clue up to it until we lose our own fucking rax and i've threatened to abandon for the 8th time if they don't listen to me. that last game we were up 20k xp and in 10 mins were down 15k xp and that is TYPICAL. just stop going mid.

anyway i'm just posting because the puck in that game took a pretty meta skillbuild and i wanted to share it with you

Quick guide on what to assign Vengeful Spirit's skill points to for various early- and mid-game tasks.

Pick offs - Q > W > E
Small Skirmishes - W = Q > E
Teamfights - W > E > Q
Pushing - E > W >> Q
Jungling + Roshan - W > E >> Q
Escape - Q > W = E

tl'dr : Q is for ganking, E is for pushing, W is for everything else.

@FFGenerations: I think you wanted the QQ thread. However, in case you actually meant the question you asked, KotL and IO are very good at keeping your teammates from 4-manning mid, by dragging them to another lane.

Midgame 5-mans actually make Missile better than Wave UNLESS VS dies in the swap. People consider the singular effect of each spell, but Missile's CD is so short that unless the fights are burst-damage dependent and end almost immediately when someone gets burst down (which favors Missile anyway because Missile maximizes your burst damage), you will usually get a 2nd Missile in the fight, and possibly a 3rd at the tail end when cleaning up the fight. Wave only starts to pick up with a significant source of physical damage, but if you're not level 9/10 by then, that's a problem.

Wave is absolutely the best skill if VS is going to die every fight because the effect duration is so long that it persists long after she dies (aura drops when you die and you can't throw more stuns when you're dead). But personally, I'm, only comfortable playing in such a sacrificial manner in stacks/arranged play. I wouldn't play that way in pubs.

It's an "emote" on twitch. When you write it in twitch chat it is replaced with a grey face that looks kinda like the famous trollface.

So its basically trollface. And its also banned on teamliquid and sub-sites

Is there a standard skill build for Ogre? (as support)

I see most people max Q first but I find that maxing W first is stronger for ganks. Though I suppose maxing Q is better for multicast at level 7.
