+ Show Spoiler + I'll name this the A-E-T-N Layout
BLUE Attack = A Move = Alt+A Stop = S Hold = H
PURPLE Select Hero = F1 Select Courier = F2 Select All Other Units =F3 Unit Hotkeys = 1-0
RED Learn Skill = Q Upgrade Stats = W
GREEN Ability BLUE-GREEN AutoCast Ability 1 = E, Autocast = D Ability 2 = R, Autocast = F Ability 3 = T, Autocast = G Ability 4 = Y, Autocast = C Ability 5 = B, Autocast = V Ultimate = N, Autocast = M
ORANGE Courier Return Items = ~ Buy Item = Z Take from Stash = X Buy TP = Alt+Z
YELLOW Use Items = U, I, O, J, K, L
BROWN Shop = Space Pause = P Leaderboard = TAB Fortify Structures = ,
Default Finger Placement Pinky on A Ring on E Middle on R, T or Y Pointer on H, B, N, M, "," and Items
Hence the name A-E-T-N
1. You can use autocast easily with the keyboard without pressing Alt like the default keys 2. The item hotkeys use the same visual configuration as what is shown on-screen 3. You still use A, S and H like you do in Starcraft 4. You can instantly go Q-E, Q-R, Q-T, Q-N when you level up. Like right when you reach level 6, you can go Q-N-N-Click and cast your Ultimate. 5. You can shop fast by just pressing space 6. You can bind dominated creeps right beside the creep ability. 3-E-Click, and you cast the creep ability, then press 4 and go back to controlling your hero.
What's Yours? :D

+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/Yzp7R.jpg) red: skills (d and f are the key you need for something like puck to get to the orb etc.) yellow: level-up keys (g for level up and h for skilling stats) blue: movement, a is attack ,r is patrol, e is hold green: Item hotkeys, I also got 2 on my mouse teal: I come from DotA1, never rly got used to using f1 and f2 i allways bind hero+courier on 1 and 2
You mean something like this? It took me like 5 mins

Attack = A Move = M Stop = S Hold = H
Select Hero = 1 Select Courier = 2 Select All Other Units = `
Learn Skill = O Upgrade Stats = U
L E G A C Y
Use Items = M4, M5, space, 3, 4, 5 Pause = F9 Leaderboard = TAB Console = Insert SteamCommunity = Del
In-game Voice = F1 TeamSpeak Voice = Ctrl
|
1-5 and space -> items qwerfd -> skills f4 -> courier f1,f2,f3 -> control groups(it is enough even for meepo in my case) z -> level up c -> stats after level up
pretty much works for me
|
I use legacy, even for the items ._.
|
Control groups = F1 - F4
Courier = ~
Abilities = 1 2 3 4(ult) F G
Items = Q W E, Alt+A, Alt+S, Alt+D
Ability Level = Z Stats Level = X
Shop = B
Voice = T
Some taken from HoN (played it before DotA) and some inspiration from Guild Wars 1 (weapon swapping was F1-F4 so I was used to using those keys regularly enough that I made them the control groups)

Thanks k0pf, findin a pic and making one now

EDIT: noticed u alrdy created ours

Abilities: QWER DF
Control groups 1-5. courier:F1, grab items:F2, Deliver items:F3 Speed boost:F4. So I can just roll my fingers over the keys :D
A=Attack,S=stop H=hold position.
Item Keys: Item1->CapsLock Item2->Space Item3->Mouse button 4 Item4->G Item5->V (these two normally go for passive stuff..dont like these last two keys too much..might change). Item6->Mouse button 5
Havent really worked it out completely..but yeah thats what I use currently.Also, the caps lock is quite comfy for me, I put it to something that I use regularly...but when have to type..people think your shouting :D
|
Hero: 1, f1 Courier: f2 Control groups: 2-5, useful for chen or beastmaster, etc Abilities: QWERFD Items: alt + QWEASD
Everything else is pretty much the same. I don't use "select all other units" because I just bind that to a control group, usually 3.
|
Abilities: Skill 1 = Q Skill 2 = W skill 3 = E skill 4 = 4 skill 5 = 5 Ulti = R
Control groups 1-3 courier:F2 grab items:Tab,
A=Attack,S=stop H=hold position.
Item Keys: Item1->D Item2->F Item3->G Item4->Z Item5->X Item6->C
Shop = `
its easier for me to use 4th and 5th skills.

+ Show Spoiler + + Show Spoiler +BLUE (Movement) Attack = A Move = M Stop = S Hold = H (Spacebar)
PURPLE (Unit Select) Select Hero = F1 Control Group 1 = Hero Control Group 2 = Secondary Unit / Courier Control Group 3 = Tertiary Unit / Courier Control Group 4-0 = Continue Above
RED (Ability) [Courier Mirrors Hero Layout] Ability 1 = Q Ability 2 = W Ability 3 = E Ability 4 = D Ability 5 = F Ultimate = R
GREEN (Misc) T = Voice Chat G = Buy TP Scroll B = Open/Close Shop
ORANGE (Modifiers) Control = To Set Control Groups Alt = Use Items (Q W E A S D)
BROWN Tilde = Scoreboard Tab = Tab through selected units Shift = Shift Queue F8 = Open/Close Console F9 = Pause
TEAL Y = Taunt
BLACK (Key Removed) Windows Key
YELLOW (Finger Position) Pinky = Shift Ring = Q Middle = W Pointer = E Thumb = Space (Half over B)
FORGOT V = Fortify F3 = Learn Skill F4 = Learn Stats
I have used the majority of this setup since Warkeys was released. I used to curl my thumb under my hand to rest on Alt and Spacebar to display health bars before the functionality was implemented. I also used control groups 1 through 5 for each shop.
I don't really see why you would ever need to auto cast an ability. Not sure why so many people have it bound. Maybe for Orb effects but those are normally either always on or you are using them every few attacks in which case I would be orb walking anyways.

` = courier 1 = hero 2 = all other units 3 = ctrl group 4,5,6,7,8,9 = items b = shop d = return items to stash (courier selected) t = return items to hero from courier (courier selected) r = courier speed burst (courier selected) qwerty = skills f = ability learn p = glyph v = voice chat

1-0 - Control groups are all the top row number keys, i generally bind hero to every group at start of game (unless i play lone druid or something, then 1 druid 2 bear 3 both) F1 - courier F3 - shop Z X C ~ Space T - items QWERDF - skills G - ability learn side button on mouse - voice chat
i have courier and other units mirror the hero controls
|
1/2/3/4/5/C - item hotkeys (C = TP scroll) Q/W/E/R/D/F - skills (R = ulti, D/F = extra) A/S/H - attack/stop/hold
F1 - Select hero F2 - Select all other units Ctrl - give command to all my units.
V - Buy sticky item B - Buy quick item N - Transfer items from stash
, - select courier . - open shop
O - level up U - level up stats
I basically put courier/shop/level up buttons far away to prevent accidentally pressing them. No need for control groups with F1/F2/Ctrl hotkeys.
|
qwerdf = skills 1-5 control groups z = glyph items = numpad (win)
pretty much exact default dota 1 keys except for the skills i changed them cause i play invoker a lot and d/f for skills are 81912379112937x better than the terribad dota1 hotkeys
|
1 = chicken §, 2-6 = items f2 = shop f3 = glyph tab = leaderboard
otherwise legacy
|
i use default except 1-6 as items and f3, f4, f5 as control groups
|
T = attack Mouse 4,5 = items 1,2 alt+qwer = items 3-6 `,2-5 = control groups 1 = hero select tab = select next unit caps lock = courier space bar = scoreboard
The rest are default I think. I used to use F1-4 for items, but someone in the TL chat room convinced me to try alt+qwer; so far, the alt items are working fine although I have pinged the map by accident quite a bit when firing off midas. The oddball control groups are for meepo so that ` is all my clones (blink/lothars poofing), 1-5 are individual meepos in order. (the T for attack is just because i got used to that via grid in sc2)

Unit Action:
I have auto-attack off. Attack = A Stop = S Hold position = H No move key since it's completely useless, especially with auto-attack off.
Select hero = 1 Select courier = 2 Select all other units = 3
Control groups 1-6 = F1-F6 Control groups 7-10 = 7-0 Control group Tab = TAB
I also have the ctrl to command all units option on. No other keys here, don't need them.
Abilities:
I use legacy keys. The only hero I switch keys for is Rubick with Ability 1 = G, Ability 2 = W, Ability 3 = N, Ability 4 = R, and Ability Ultimate = T. No other keys for Heroes.
For courier the only keys I have are Y, T, and R for Retrieve items, Transfer items, and Speed Burst, respectively.
Items: Z, X, C, Q, 4, space If a key is taken then I switch it to W or whatever is available. For Invoker I use alt+Q, and etc.
I've been thinking about switching my keys around to accommodate micro heroes like Chen and such; that's a work in progress.
