DPC 2023 is here, let's discuss!

Ice breakers:
- Is this RTZ's year??!
- Will a non-WEU team win TI?
- Will we get all 3 majors?
- Will we see a real patch this year?

About your icebreakers:

Every year is RTZ's year!
Hm, EU still looks damn strong...
Actually Lima looks not that good with all the politicial trouble they have down there right now... but maybe someone there knows more what's going on there. I see very little news about it here in Germany! Lima still looks sort of "calm"!
For years I would like to get a "real patch" after TI and the next TI as the culmination of the patch! Don't know why this is not done... too long?

During an interview with skiter he mentioned that IceFrog was basically away from the game for more than two years to develop a new game(somewhat like Dota) at Valve. Same is presumed to be the reason why there has been nearly no any big changes after all since the addition of the neutral items back in 2019. Hopes are high that with his return, there will be significant patches and changes to mechanics, heroes, maps etc.

Liquid looking pretty freakin strong during their first series against Secret. Tundra also wiped the floor with OG. Gonna be a very tense series between OG and Secret, losing team will be already at a dire spot.

If people like comebacks, they should watch the Bleed-Fnatic series!
Two games that Fnatic probably thought they already won but... 20k networth is not much it seems!

Apparently there are cheat programs that alert the players when they are under enemy vision. They call it the "Slark cheat"

Their recent games had unusual high accuracy of dewarding, where several members of the team moved near enemy wards suspiciously to pinpoint exactly where the ward is.

The average wards dewarded by Knights in this DPC was 12.57, compared to only 9 from Aster in second place.

Ok, Nigma lost ... but they played quite well! The map they won was very clean and direct!
Against "lesser" opponents I see good stuff coming in!

If the accusations are correct against Knight, same will be another nail in the coffin for the Dota 2 - scene in China. They are already lacking new and upcoming talents...

Back to WEU:
Secret looking completely lost so far, all four games have been stomps. Looking rough.

On the other hand, Nigma put up more of a fight than expected and even took a game away from Tundra. Still it looks like that Ammars hero pool is concerning, he played his signature Mars, Huskar and Razor from the carry position. But their laning stage was on point in all three games and Sumail bodied Nine in all three games. Hope they will pull through against ITB, same is a must win series on Friday.

What is the deal with the SA DPC included/dropped teams? Doesn't seem like a good sign.

You mean, that EG is playing there now? :D
Espacially in S/NA there are quite a few team shuffles. Also want to see how Dendi is doing tonight in NA!

That series from Nigma against ITB was just depressing to watch. Good laning stage into an absolute disaster as if they have no idea what to do beyond the 10-minute mark, no cohesion and ATF running around like a headless chicken and falling behind further and further. Already with their backs against the wall and next opponents are GG and Liquid...yikes...qualifiers for Lima-Major can already be over by the end of this week for Nigma and they have to seriously watch out not being relegated again.

Does anyone know when the next Shopify Rebellion game is? On the liquipedia page it is showing Jan 17th against team Alpha in standings matrix, but showing today in the upcoming matches section.

Edit: Nevermind, found it on the dota2 site, looks like it is today based on their schedule.

Really enjoying New Liquid performance so far. The Nisha addition is looking like a great addition.

They look waaay stronger than the Matu iteration

Looking like Secret is speedrunning to Div2 and probably one of the first teams to reshuffle. All of them are heavily underperforming...

EDIT: Similar to casters curse...seems that Secret will win their first game during this DPC-season. 14k ahead after 30min against Entity.

Shopify smurfing on the NA region lul

RTZ said in the post match interview that they scrim a lot of EU teams now since they are based on the east coast of NA, certainly very helpful for closing the gap to top teams out there!

Ok, two weeks in. Let's look at the standings!

WEU: Secret/Nigma in the bottom... probably not many expected that! On the other end: Liquid look very strong! Nisha was an incredible addition!

EEU: BetBoom did a good "switcheroo"! Now the team to beat! Together with Spirit. Navi and VP would probably like to win a bit...

China: Aster playing very well! And aside from the 0:x teams it looks quite close! Will be interesting, who drank too much in their new-year

SEA: Fnatic is definitely underperforming. A surprise is Geek Slate; coming from Div2 but currently crushing it! But a lot can happen there!

NA: Well, Dendi, that looks not good for your "American Dream"... On top not much happening. I would be very surprised if TSM and Shopify(old EG) will not make pos 1/2!

SA: (new)EG is doing well in the south. Probably the "grudge match" against beastcoast on the last day. Also I should look at Alliance, if they can keep their Div1 spot.... not watching much from there...

Secret just one series away of being relegated. Must win series againt ITB otherwise they are guaranteed out of Div1 and to add some spice, Puppey can Kuro take down with him in their last series(if Nigma is not relegated already by then).

Ammar in full tilt mode. Jesus, pls get rid of him right away. Miracle can play with his hands tied on his back better than this. Div2 incoming, dont see them winning any series.

EDIT: Game 2 they were stomping. Sumail with the heavy lifting on Leshrac and still Nigma is one of the few teams which can make Io work.

Quite funny that nigma was able to beat their long time rivals. They still have a decent shot at avoiding relegation. I’m surprised that ammar hasn’t really worked out on carry so far, but the season is still young.

The difference between earlier iterations of Nigma and this one is that their laning phase is top notch. Very often in the past, they had to play the catch-up game because one or two of their cores were underfarmed. During the whole DPC-tour, they came out of the laning stage ahead or at least even(except 2nd game against Liquid), but afterwards it felt like they did not know what to do next. My concern is still that they fully rely on Suma1l crushing his lane and run rampant around the map, this can be easily exploited by the better teams.

The storyline is insane. After ending Puppeys TI-run in 2017,2018 and 2019, Kuro can now pushing Secret to Div2.

If their issue is not knowing what to do next, that will be solved with more games, experience, communication etc.. It will come.

Interestingly, in the past that was actually one of their strong features. If they can keep up their early game and step up their mid/late game ... they could be very scary!

Ok, WEU is still playing Tiebreakers... so not finished. Liquid still looking really good. If they keep their skill up, they are a high contender for the major! Nigma barely made the cut and ... well, Secret to Div2! Not expected as said!

EEU: BB and Spirit are on top. They also gave us some really entertaining maps in their game! Here, Navi to Div2 is probably the surprise!

China: Started their last week! Let's see if Knights and LGD are keeping their spots with Aster.

SEA: Geek Slate did it; from Div2 to Major! Well played! On the other side: BOOM and Fnatic dropping down. BOOM won the last Div1 season... seems their "new team" does not click yet!

NA: TSM and Shopify("EG") are at the Major. That was somehow expected! I did not expect that B8 actually survived and are still Div1!

SA: "new EG" and beastcoast made it. The 4-way-tie for points was won by Alliance! Nice to see this team with a bit of impact again! Not sure if they can deal with the top two the next seasons...

The difference in both games were the support-duo...Taiga and especially Misha felt really underwhelming with nearly no impact compared to their counter-parts.

Wondering if OG is considering to replace Misha with Chu or Ceb is making his return.
