* Bounty Rune base gold bounty increased from 50 to 60 (affects runes after the first one)
* Bounty Rune no longer gives XP. Previously gave 0 at the start and increased by 7 per minute.

* Melee Creeps gold bounty reduced by 1 (reduced from 41 to 40)

yeah i kinda prefer the old updating style to be honest

an update per 2 weeks when the meta hasnt even been fixed yet is pretty...unexciting. its like they're shoving us what to do instead of making us innovate and find out new ways to deal with problem heroes.

icefrog actually think 5 second cd sunder with 0 manacost & 6 second cd reflection with illusions that deal 100% damage to every single enemy is balanced. bye

No xp bounty runes is the most interesting change to me. All the roles I play are pretty inclined to grab bounties as much as possible, I'm curious how much the lack of xp is gonna hurt them. I'm imagining its only really gonna suck for hard roamers like BH or ES where your xp was limited to bounty runes and hero kills (aside from a little lane leech here and there). Having that just be hero kills makes the hero kills even harder to get.

its like an anti-roamer change.

A lot of changes. Some really weird ones. Like Spectre is one of the best late game heroes, she has troubles in the early game and transitioning into mid/late, why buff her late game talent(sure it was underpicked) to absurd amount? She will start killing whole teams again with just one button...

Tinker +100 damage talent to +10 armor, like I know it wasn't picked and it wasn't even useful but now he has that option and Tinker didn't need any buffs...

Pudge rot slow nerfed further, ok...

Necrophos was nerfed into oblivion before, I like that they are changing his talents to buff specific spells instead of raw stats talents, but he needed those 2 talents quite a lot, so don't know how I feel about it.

Terrorblade isn't nerfed NEARLY enough...

SF finally nerfed how he should have been nerfed for quite some time, never understood why stack damage is the same from level 1 and always said that it should be nerfed before anything else.

Yeah I don't like that change either, maybe lower the exp more, completely removing it kills the game for roamers.

It has 300 more range than the main dagger so it can hit target up to 300 range further away from the primary target.

Same for Visage's Soul Assumption.

I can see tomes are reserved to level hungry heroes like omniknight. 700 xp is no joke. This buff can be abused for heores that rely on nukes.

It is a nerf in that regard, when you look at him as a core/carry(pos 1 or 2), but as pos 3 when he goes for something like Blink/Shadow Blade/Halberd, he is more of a space creator than damage dealer, as other pos 3 heroes, so I would say it is a buff there. I mean Breath of Fire was changed few patches ago to be 25% all attack damage reduction, not just base damage, which means it reduces damage from items, auras and the rest. That being buffed to 45% is really damn big, it has nice duration as well so it basically halves the damage of any carry.

On one hand yes, on the other hand with the changes to bounty runes no longer giving exp, we will have a lot of starved roamers and offlaners when it comes to XP, so we will see which heroes will the teams prioritize for the tomes.

Would it be useful in laning? I only play him in mid, but I tend to max Dragon Blood because I'm a wimp.

I mean you will max Dragon Blood to the level 10 anyway? Or at least get it to level 3, with 4-1-3-1 and talent point at level 10.

If you still didn't take tower at that point sure it can help, but it is even stronger later in the game.

Well, I mean going 1-1-4-1 and then getting 3-1-4-1 + talent, usually. I also play in a 5-stack most of the time. Should I change into 4-1-1-1 -> 4-1-3-1, or just keep laning with what I'm comfortable with?

If you're going mid and you feel the need for extra sustain, getting three/four points in Dragon's Blood is perfectly fine. I had to do this lately because I was up against a Huskar.

It's fine if you are getting pressured, but a bit of a waste when you are playing against mid that can't kill/harass you enough. Maxing Breath of Fire first helps you with clearing waves faster, pushing faster with Dragon form, you can even jump to the jungle in between waves with Breath of Fire maxed to kill few neutrals there as well.

I usually go 2-1-2 at level 5, ulti at 6, then depending on the lane I would continue my build accordingly. There were games where I didn't get even one point in stun at all until level 8 or 9 because I didn't have any kill potential whatsoever(was against Timber mid).

I think that skill build has become a really important part of Dota, especially nowadays where laning phase is incredibly important and starting lanes can decide outcome of the game. You can always go with what you are comfortable but experimenting, theory-crafting and changing your skill build after you look at their draft and the bigger picture(thinking about what their heroes can do, if they can gank, will they group to push etc.) will definitely help you improve and become a better player.

I'll try 2-1-2 next time I play DK, and see how that goes. You typically always end up with 4-1-4 anyway, right? I couldn't imagine a situation where I'd want more Dragon Tail damage over the other two in laning.

This is a really important note, and one of the reasons why I stopped following guides. Holding points until you see your match up is a very simple, but very "makes you look less nooby" approach. And as long as you can justify it, there really isn't a wrong skill progression line (unless it's something obviously bad; I played a game where our DK mid maxed Dragon Tail first for some reason while completely skipping Breathe Fire).

That being said, I still view Dragon Knight as a siege tank. I haven't run him offlane because when I do play that role, I tend to go more for *fun* heroes like Brewmaster.

45% reduction in an aoe is crazy good

Arc warden might be good again. I think books are under utilized on him now, maybe that build will resurface.i don’t think there’s a better first item on him impact wise (after Midas). And I’m weird but I pretty much always went for spark wraith at 25 and now with the 20 talent, caster arc with octo and shit might be viable

Also the roaming meta is gunna be wonky. If you buy boots first, your 5 pos is gunna still be support whoring even harder, kind of negates the lower chicken cost from last patch

Happy that they gave base damage, but i wish they would just change these talents completely.

They are terrible, and they are buffing them to encourage use because literally nobody ever takes them, but they are still terrible. This is because 4 position monkey king is terrible and there is literally never a reason to pick it because there is just so many other options that do a better job of everything than a 4 monkey king.

If you are going core monkey king, your team needs damage, and you almost have HAVE to get the other talents to maintain your damage. Maybe you might see some people pick primal spring but 50% bonus to stun is just so much better when you have a few items and you need burst. Seriously, Tree dance/primal spring build of monkey king is really really bad as a core... and he just doesnt have the right tools to be anything else.

Monkey King: Level 10 Talent increased from +150 Tree Dance Vision AoE to +300 Monkey King: Level 15 Talent increased from +300 Tree Dance Cast Range to +600 Monkey King: Level 20 Talent increased from +300 Primal Spring Damage to +400

How does the naga song interaction work with meteor hammer now?

Also I want my random back. Keep the extra items maybe, but I want to be able to random any hero....

Meteor hammer song combo nerfed. Enemies now have 0.1s to use their items to save themselves like euls, blink, glimmer.

Icefrog is trying hard to kill roaming and buff static laning. Another indirect buff to chinese dota.

It seriously feels like its directed at preventing pudge/bounty/tusk/etc from running around the map ganking like crazy people and still maintaining some semblance of exp gain.

Looking at the math tho it isn't that big of a deal. lvl 2-3 is 480 exp, and getting both 4 minute and both 6 minute bounties for a lane is 140 exp. Sure its a bit but it really isn't that big of a deal.

You right, saw some of Purge thoughts on patch yesterday. He did a test on spec with agi items and was crazy good that talent, but useless with radiance. Maybe diffusal will be the new thing ,mana drain the whole enemy team could be usefull.

think it can be pretty powerfull in team fight if it let you take out backline. Also with refresher orb in game you can really seige the high ground with it.
But what good is a late game talent if you already lost or so fare behinde that it doesn't matter. Have anybody tried agi items to see if Spectre can be more useful early game?

But you won't always have a use for that talent. If you are playing against Viper, Doom with Aghs, or multiple Silver Edge heroes they will break your dispersion in the fight and just kill you, at that point your level 25 talent is just useless. And you will probably be 5 or 6 slotted the time you reach level 25 as Spec.

You are going to stack agi anyway later in the game, having Treads, Radiance, Skadi, Butterfly, Manta, Diffusal/Eblade have your illusions deal ridiculous amounts of damage even without that talent, with that talent I think that only tanks can stay alive. Include Refresher in the backpack, and with 2 ulties that deal 80% of your damage, you can literally wipe whole team.

Dispersion will still be better talent because of the nature of the Spectre, with other build that you will probably go with Heart, Blade Mail if needed, Nullifier(she is probably one of the best Nullifier carries in the game), but this illusion damage talent is very far from bad, it is actually amazing in right circumstances.

Mmm I dunno about these changes personally, but I think these 2-week patches are pushing the envelope a bit too far. Like someone before me said, the meta hasn't fully developed from the past changes and we are already seeing new ones, drastic or otherwise. I do not think this is healthy for this game.
Sure, do mini-patches with quick bugfixes and necessary quick hero nerfs but let the players figure out something before you decide to flip it on its head.

Tinker slight nerfs, lvl 20 talent change is arguably a buff.

Bounty runes were the only reason I stayed relevant as pos 5 in pubs. I cant farm when the other 4 heroes on my team are all carries icefrog, I needed that xp!
And these Jakiro changes are stupid that hero does not need any buffs rn

Yeah I don't like that change either, maybe lower the exp more, completely removing it kills the game for roamers.

Not sure if I agree. Seems like it has become way too easy for position 4/5s to get exp and gold. I kind of liked the older days where 2-3 "good" items weren't all but guaranteed for a support. Feels more rewarding making big plays with minimal items.

anyone notice obscenely long que times this patch? like there is 450k players on right now and its taking 10-15 min ques at 4k
