Also, from my understanding and research, UG has a long history of being accused of cheating and bullshit pauses. That is the reason they got banned, because they finally got caught red handed. Its not mental gymnastics to see the nuance between the two. One team had a history of shady behavior and suspected cheating. The other team has a player well known for impulsive actions and lack of common sense, but is respected and has zero history of shady behavior. Just to play devil's advocat here for a second. UG never actually gotten caught and "convicted" of doing anything, so really all this "oh but they might have maybe cheated possibly maybe before already" rhethoric is silly. Clearly they don't want to dq a extremely popular team/player. But i guess a "long history" of "potentially malicious action" is now sound proof while they concoct, quite frankly bizarre, statements as "We do not believe that Artour viewed the stream video feed, only the stream chat. We believe this was an innocent lapse of judgement." to avoid sanctioning the Na posterchild. It's quiet literally impossible for him to not look at the stream while chatting on twitch, assuming that he didn't access it on a phone that was set to chat only mode or via an irc client. And let's be real here, chances are 99.99% that he didn't use either of those options. What people should take away from this is the fact that tournament organisers are still as hypocritical as they've always been and elect to act in a manner that's neither fair nor just, but rather in their best business interest. Now that's all well and good of course, unless you care about ESPORTS. I thought they matched up with what was h appnening on the stream he was watching with what was happening in game. nah, it's never been proven what stream UG was watching. they were DQ because the rules state no stream watching of any kind iirc. so they didn't really have to prove which game UG was watching. Ironically UG claimed they were only watching RTZ's stream lol. Can't make this shit up. :D~ Unless you think this is conclusive evidence lols. + Show Spoiler +I think UG was probably watching the tournament stream but probablys and maybes don't mean much. edit: this is the rule UG was nabbed for. 9.3 Players Prohibited from Watching Streams. Players playing within a game may not watch or listen to these streams at any time during their match
You act like UG wasn't already in huge amounts of trouble for this. Honestly your mental gymnastics are about as impressive as anyone's if you believe that the two cases are anywhere near related.
UG has a history of not just shady, but outright questionable plays. Or have we forgotten the unpausing incident, the fact that they were trying to sneak players into the broadcaster slot, the 'convenient' 2 minute dcs and god knows what else I'm probably forgetting. This isn't a team that suddenly looked bad, they are a team that over the course of time got a really bad reputation for doing this shit.
RTZ is just a moron on the other hand, and considering that Secret could have just called for the game to continue (a point that you seem to be forgetting btw) they decided to keep the pause up for 15 minutes+. RTZ being the idiot he is decides to have fun with twitch chat, probably half out of stupidity and half out of the very fact that the UG incident happened and suddenly everyone is up in arms.
The entire situation is dumb, but holy shit are you comparing apples to onions here. Get a clue.

Ya okay, 2 different people are accused of looking at streams, literally not the same thing at all. Insane amounts of mental gymnastics needed to make a comparison like that. Oh shit wait. Get a clue.

You're also missing my entire point, which isn't surprising. UG is often cited as doing 'suspicious things' and therefore it warrants stricter penalty. Rtz was blatantly caught engaging the chat in an active game. There are no suspicions. Rtz has even admitted to being in the chat (at minimum). UG may be shady, dickheads and overall twatburgers but suspicions =/= guilt. And punishing people based on 'shady history' while not punishing someone for outright blatant rule breaking is quite comical.
I personally think UG has tried to cheat in the past, and probably watched streams in most of their officials. I also don't think RTZ went into the chat to gain a competitive edge but again, probablys and maybes don't mean jack shit.
If you remove the context of playing video gamez and apply your same 'shady past' to any sort of real life scenario you could quite easily see how ridiculous it would be to prosecute or punish people on 'suspicions of shady behavior', without having any sort of actual proof of wrong doing. Seriously, stop being a monkey.
Also, it's not like Secret's member haven't had questionable pausing, I mean where's the merlini police and puppy pause memes? lols.

Have to agree with CRMS here even tho I also believe UG actively tries to cheat.
1-A guy is accused of robbery, no substancial evidence, just allegations and past records->jail time 2-A guy who's a prolific figure, known, Gets caught "with the hand in the cookie jar" while robbing a bank--->warning
I could relate things like this IRL to famous/rich people getting away with shit because of Top notch law-bender lawyers.

Honestly this is the fucking stupidest drama that's happened to dota in awhile.

If you put both cases through courtroom levels of scrutinity, yes, there is something wrong with the veredict. But to say that is just because RTZ is famous and in a top team is misleading. If a player from M5 or PR or something did what RTZ did, they would still not have gotten the UG treatment.
UG's history was more relevant to their punishment than the fact they were a small team. You can still complain that since it wasn't proven it shouldn't be relevant, but making it simply a case of RTZ getting off with a warning because he is famous is disingenuous.
|
I mean being in the chat, and supposedly nothing else, during a pause, its bit different than obvious stream cheating. Add in the fact that UG actually has been caught cheating at least once before, and they had received warnings before, and I'm fine with a warning for secret. It happens again, no matter the circumstances, I want the hammer dropped.

I kind of agree with that but it's just weird to be like "we odn't feel like RTZ was cheating" when we actually have no idea. Maybe he was like "lolol idiots will think I'm just dumb, lolol".

Talking in the chat. Not just being in the chat.
|
Even in a court room the past actions of UG would be taken into account. The spectator bullshit was something I forgot about and pretty clear signs they are shady fucks.
And I don't really get the whole " hu hu hu, both did the same thing, why no same punishment like in real law". The judge alway has discression over the ruling and punishment. Two people who participated in the same crime could get two differed punishments based on their record or past actions.

idk how legality works or whatever but from the bare minimum I know, common law judges on a case by case basis and civil law is equally applied, isn't it? think in an actual civil law courtroom the cases would have had the same conclusion?
I think rtz was just goofing off or some shit doubt a person with his mentality would cheat in a competitive setting anyways ug's case is far suspicious and I'm sure if I sunk like 8 hours into ncis level forensics it'd be easy to prove beyond they were guilty beyond reasonable doubt but you know, innocent til proven guilty and all that jazz
