What do you guys think of the new Ethereal Blade? More viable for illusion carries and Anti-mage? Not as useful or more useful?

I don't really like the nerf on mekansm. Burst heal is important in team-fight oriented line-up more than 5-man push meta.

Can somebody explain to me why people are bitching about the elevated fountain change? Doesn't it just hinder fountain griefing when the game is already over?

Also I like the rune change. It promotes more active supports in the early game to help with rune control, something they should've already been doing but now it is made more explicit/beneficial.

I don't like this XP comeback mechanic... feels like it will make teams just play more conservatively when ahead. Old china doto to comeback anyone? Get ahead, dont fight because have to be careful not to feed xp.

Haven't supports been hogging runes throughout 6.81?

One more thing: we on the Dota 2 team have a number of updates in the works right now that we’re really excited about, some for the rest of this year, and a big update for early next year. But we’re pretty sure we won’t be able to make enough progress on the larger update if we put it down to work on Diretide – so we’ve decided that we’re not going to ship a Diretide event this year. We know that last year we weren’t clear enough in our communication about this, so this year we wanted to be up front about it early. Next year will bring monumental changes to Dota 2, and we’re confident that when you’ve seen what we’ve been working on, you’ll agree it was worth it.


This patch is insane. Loving all the changes but did anyone else notice that on the front page Valve said they weren't going to do a Diretide event this year? Sadness.

This is just way too much change for my taste. This may be nice for people who get bored and always want things to be refreshing, but as for me this is too much at once. Its not even about whether i agree with the change or not. I've initially disagreed with few recent patches and ended up changing my mind so hopefully i change my mind again, but i cant see my self liking massive overhauls like these being the norm for too long.

So now that necro's heartstopper aura is negative regen does that mean it will cancel things like salve and bottle?

Icefrog seems to do this once every two years. There is literally no reason for Valve to want to keep this game locked down in a specific state or stop doing this over hauls. It keeps the game fresh and people seeing new things.

Really? I remember there was a certain period of time where mids didn't even bother to rotate for runes. Instead, they left them to the supports/offlaner.

I agree with what Aui etc. said in the end of their patch analysis with Bruno, which was that teams are still constantly learning new things about the current patch so change wasn't really yet needed and the patch has provided great quality games. In that way it's even a bit sad that the game is changing again a lot.

But I'm hopeful I'll be positively surprised later on. The timing for the patch is interesting to say the least. Right before there are loads of big LANs, and the top teams may not even have that much time to practice in the middle of their traveling.

Tbh the main thing I'm concerned about is that the killxp changes might drive teams back to the old "get ahead and then farm for 40 minutes because fighting is too risky" meta.

I'd take facerush over 10 kills at 60 minutes any day of the week.
