Well, ya, of course it is. But, you don't have to play her that way. Sometimes I don't get spiderlings until after lvl 16 and just get stats instead. I don't play her as a pusher, then, but instead as an early ganker. It can be very effective in the lane where you don't have to worry about mana at all and if your opponent blows their stun, it's so easy to tower dive with ulti. I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, but you don't have to cookie build every hero. And, sometimes, an inefficient build becomes superior because it throws off the enemy. You seem pretty nice but i have to tell you straight up, things are cookie cutter for a reason, and an inefficient build is not superior, it is simply inefficient. There are optimal builds, even if it isn't always max a certain skill first, there are certain ways of doing things that are just better than certain other ways There is absolutely no reason to use a bad build if you could be using a better oneBy doing something that is "different" if it also happens to be bad, you are a detriment to your team It is your responsibility to play your hero to the fullest extent that you can In the case of broodmother i can name an exact situation in which you are a detriment to your team, you gank an enemy hero, he begins running away with 100 health, you cannot kill him because you went stats instead of spiderlings, it is YOUR fault that the enemy hero lived instead of died, and you hurt your teams chances of winning by doing so. No matter how good a player is at dota in general, there will always be someone better than them at something, always take advice when it is valid and all players should never be egotistical enough to pretend they are right when they have been proven wrong. I think you are missing the point. What about when MVP 2 raxes and rofl's Nestea? Was his build inefficient? Also, I think your scenario leaves many roads untraveled. What if, instead of running away at 100hp, you die to his combo because you didn't have enough hitpoints to survive it? Or, what if, instead of getting him to 100hp, you get him to 300hp because your slow wasn't good enough yet and you didn't get in many hits before tower range. You, then, shoot your spiderlings and take him to 100hp. Same ending. You can't just say having spiderlings is always better than not having them, because that is kind of "duh?" That's like saying having a black king bar is always better than not having one. Of course it is. The point, though, is what you had to give up in order to get it. I may just rather get a linken's instead if I only have 1 disable to be concerned with. I agree that you are supposed to "edit" your build based on the situation, that is a given, but you still prioritize the better spells based on the situation. If you can't do enough damage to your opponent, getting incapacitating bite instead of spiderlings just because its unorthodox isn't better.
Doing something like not getting spiderlings isn't analogus 2 raxing, it would be like what if mvp decided not to make his first barracks until 50 supply of scvs with no expansion because it's unorthodox, and then nestea killed him with 2 banelings

Is the input lag this bad in general or only a result of the servers being overloaded last days? They've been definitely somewhat unstable recently with matchmaking being down etc. I've heard from some people that it's comparable to HoN or War3 Lan, but to me it feels just like the old 250ms BNet delay which is pretty much unbearable.

Moscow5 vs Mouz on Joindota.com now. No specific tournament thread so posting it here..

I solo, because I like my own pain. :p I actually seem to end up in a party of 4 pretty much instantly I join, but it's not like it's a party of 4 pros. Half the people I play with are pretty to extremely new. I do think that they're goin to need extremely good mmr and community incentives to make the game work, the few randoms I do end up playing with are usually a least two of : awful, think they're the god of dota, rude, racist, afk or don't speak at all.

How do you guys like Krob? (Aka Death Prophet) Personally I just went 3-0 with her and she seems like a really good hero to use. Plus the attack animation is wayy better than it was in Dota1. At least it seemed like it. I did find that if I went Arcane boots I would often have a surplus of mana, but if I got phase boots I'd often be left with very little mana...

I did find that if I went Arcane boots I would often have a surplus of mana, but if I got phase boots I'd often be left with very little mana... Thats why I usually go BoT with her. Getting this in midgame should be easily with carrion swarm farm/killing towers with ult. Gameplan is to push towers with ultimate while defending pushes with swarm. This hero is very good at killing buildings, but you have to put pressure on the other team and possibly kill a rax in midgame, since you are less useful in lategame, though its not as bad as with many other int heroes. You need hp to let your ghost deal the damage vs towers/in teamfight. You will probably still die sometimes later so bloodstone is my coreitem of choice. Order of building this should depend on how your lane develops, i.e if regen or hp ar more important, but soulbooster already gives enough regen if you dont spam your spells so i prefer it first. I Try to have point booster by lvl 6 most of the time and start pushing towers whenever ult cd is ready. Dont use ult too late since it takes time to release spirits and they heal you when ult ends (can provide an additional edge during fight by healing half of your hp or more). Ult spirits will attack the target you are attacking. This way you can kill towers even when creeps are there. Get one lvl in silence and passive at lvl 2/4. One lvl in passive increases the damage of your ult by 75% at lvl 6, silence is too good not to have it. It should be obvious how to use swarm/silence. Additional items may be active itmes with your big mana pool later and/or supporting items. Pick these by going for what your team needs. I prefer shivas / meka / pipe / guinsoo / heart. More experimental builds may include veil of discord / necrobook / lothars (if you want to backdoor raxes; your ultimate will still attack when you are invisible afaik).

hmm any1 watching dota 2 championship? seems like every team who picks AM wins game like by far, and no one stops him, mouz lost vs TeamShakira cuz AM went 17-2, and now Mouz picked AM against The Retry and are owning with AM doing w/e he wants, seems like he is realy OP atm? And for some reason teams just refuse to ban him? Even thought they clearly lose cuz of him
|
Well to be fair, the better teams have been picking AM quite often, and if not they are two evenly matched teams then yes the AM wins, but there are definitely ways to stop AM. Drow/Spec, Rhasta/Lion, stuns and disables and good teamfights.
This last game, the Drow got the sickest farm but the team just wasn't there around the 15-30 minute marks to help him out. So many fights ended with the Mirana invis'ing the team and there were at least 8-10 early kills that could have been had, but the mouz players escaped with <150 hp each time.

Yes yes there are ways to stop am but we all know its not THAT easy picking counters to him isnt enough. I personaly think its just easier to ban him.

Even though I wrote a long winded rant on the last page, after testing it out with some fellow TLers yesterday ( <3 Goshawk and butters), I have to admit I was most likely wrong.
The "huge input lag" I and probably you too have been noticing comes from two sources imo:
a) Servers being overloaded. Butters and me tested it some days ago and we were 100% sure that it's like 250-400ms input lag that seemed built in. Yesterday when we tested it I with Goshawk we didn't notice ANY lag at all. Just as responsive as LoL or BW via Hamachi.
b) If you come from a non-dota background like me the turning speed of heroes can be perceived as lag. I mostly notice that kiting with ranged chars is incredibly difficult due to that mechanic and feels, in the beginning, "laggy" when you're used to almost instant "turning speed" of like vultures/dragoons or your standard LoL champion.
tl;dr: DotA 2 has - most likely - no built in delay. Sry bros. <3

Yeah what i noticed in the begining and realy disliked that you cant realy kite, or run and use spells at the same time, like take for example AA you cant run and quickly use his W at the same time, you have to stop, turn arround then use it and then continue running..

Slithice please
Although, as the guy above said, I could be bothered to play several games with Invoker. He's always fun.

Anyone who has played valkyrie in Hon, and Mirana in Dota 2 will notice the turning speed "lag" a ton when you attempt to jump away from a gank and jump into the enemy team.. I have to purposely tell myself not to do it :D

About kiting with ranged champs:
Still fairly new to the game but I have been playing quite a bit of Drow, Mirana, and Windrunner. The most effective way I found to kite was to kite diagonally. If you try to shoot, run backwards, shoot you wont be able to do it. You have to spend time not only shooting, you also have to turn completely around, and then completely around again while the person chasing you just runs in a straight line. If you start running to the side, you have less turn time required to shoot/run and you are forcing the enemy to spend time turning. This is very noticeable on Drow Ranger. If you start kiting diagonally (and eventually decaying into a circular pattern) you will be able to keep your opponent from touching you most of the time. Also, if you kite this way in team fights, you generally don't get too far away from your team (as opposed to just running backwards). Learning to orbwalk is really important too. Viper/Drow can really kite all day, it just takes orbwalking and clever juking/pathing.
