In fact, HoN is currently far better spectator-wise than Dota and Dota2 are. HoN has a much better spectator interface for both the casters and the people watching. This allows the observers to get a better sense of what is going on in the game. dont compare a game in beta with a game released for years... I have faith in valve. If they make everything customize-able like TF2 UI, dota2 will be the most awesome Dota-title out there.

thats just personal preference though. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: SHADOWFIEND...Y U NO PIMP STRIDE Seriously though, Shadowfiend's model/animations were way cooler in DotA 1.
they also change the aoe of his nuke. there a lot of things that feel a little awkward at first but you get through it

yea the game that had a 1.6 million dollar prize pool needs more man power. some is bitter because he didnt get access to the beta.

also i've been in beta since the NDA lift so i dont know who is bitter here

How is a 1.6 million prize pool relevant to the manpower in dota 2?

The sound for that is great, and they're like the same effect.

One thing I don't understand is why they haven't implemented a surrender function yet. It's so god damn easy and simple, and makes playing the game much more enjoyable. They work so hard on some luxuries and overlook some of the most basic and necessary functions of a moba game.

I think it'll just take time to get used to, but overall you're probably right. I've been playing LoL recently while waiting on some basic changes to come in so that playing the game doesn't feel so awful sometimes, but also the minimap is really quite bad in comparison. It's like they wanted it to look in line with everything, but at the same time sacrificed a lot of convenience for the players in order to do so.

Yeah, I know that's what you meant. I separated them into two different paragraphs because they address different facets of the same issue. The first is that effects take getting used to. I would argue that neither game has a significant advantage in their graphics being more intuitive. The second is that the better spectator UI helps with the effects because you can easily see what has been cast. I was trying to be concise and should have elaborated.

If they make everything customize-able like TF2 UI, dota2 will be the most awesome Dota-title out there. I'm responding to his comparison; I didn't make it. Your tone leads me to believe that I have something against Dota2 whereas I am simply analyzing differences. I haven't played HoN for months and I have no emotional attachment. I'm simply pointing out unfair biases against the game and instead focusing attention on actual features that add value.
Edit: "substantially more intrinsically intuitive graphics" was a fairly ridiculous sentence.
Edit2: I also want to add that I have faith in Valve and Dota2. I believe that the game will only improve from Beta. However, you can't say that it's incomparable because the maturity of the game is different. That's like saying you can't say whether an Olympic runner is faster than a new born baby; the runner is going to be better until that unrealized potential proves otherwise.

Are there any good dota forums? Playdota is a flooded with retards. And TL isn't too active yet.
|
www.joindota.com is Tobi's website, still growing in terms of like, a forum. It's a good hub for coverage though. Gosugamers is another, then there is www.nadota.com for the north american dota scene or, if you dare, www.reddit.com/r/dota2
But you won't really get more out of any of those forums than you would out of teamliquid's if you're just looking to discuss strategy or something.
|
After looking at Reddit for sc2 for 2 days, I will never dare touch it for Dota.
|
Smart. I still try to wane myself off of it, its like an absolutely horrible drug...
|
I was just wondering if anyone has the same feeling as me, I feel that lina's stun lacks about 50-100 units cast range and shadowfiend nuke lacks aoe on the nuke.
|
Rumor has it that next patch (or the next after next) will overhaul spectator UI. Keep your fingers crossed.
|
Well spectator UI isn't really a big concern for me or I would assume most people...
Also, some pro players have been going on about how OD is 120% the next hero, whether its more than one or not we'll find out but at the very least OD should finally be put in, which makes sense since it was like 4-6 weeks ago that they put in the skins for OD
