That's even counting all of the Chinese overseas. It's a huge thing.
Yep. I really like Lee Chong Wei though. I hope I will be able to challenge Cty if I ever go to China :D

Gonna be tough. iG+LGD+DK+LGD.Int are all more or less a lock based on star power. Unless Valve decides to give even more slots to Chinese teams than they did at TI2 (possible I guess), that's 1 slot they're competing for.
Qualifiers
TI2 had TongGu instead of LGD.int, and WE was a substitute team
Still they have to be better than the new teams, then there's still for love

This got me to thinking, it's kinda hard for new talent to flourish in dota2?
There's so many oldschoolers around who know so much about the game already, it's not like BW->SC2 where the game is super different.
In 2012 alone besides NTH/VG there's not really any other team that's a surprise in terms of talent? And even then, VG has some guy who played for Tyloo and NTH has Loda/Akke...

Depends on your definition of 'new talent'. Most of the players in the na/eu scene aren't people who were successful several years ago. I don't think you can really call most of these players 'old school' just because they played in some small leagues 4-5 years ago or played HoN.
If by new talent you mean people who never played the game until like a year ago. Well then it's definitely hard, but we don't really know yet because those players haven't had the time to become known. There aren't many players who have played for 2-3 years because that was a time when Dota wasn't really growing in the west, but we do see some who started in HoN around that time who are now in Dota.
So I'd expect in a year or so we'll see people who didn't play Dota until Dota 2. But we also need more amateur leagues.
(As another note, team games are very difficult to become relevant in. You don't just need to have a lot of dedication you need to have 4 others that do as well. And then with a game like Dota a lot of things you only learn from experience so the amount of "serious" games you have to play to get to the level of understanding about even small things like rune control on the level of typical pro players is very high)

Pretty awesome that pub players can actually do well professionally! Good luck Cty!

For new talent in western dota, the first people that pop into my mind are AdmiralBulldog and TC. TC was a minor player in the HoN IH scene from what I know/remember.
EternalEnvy was a really well-known HoN player who played on top teams, so I don't really consider him to have broken out of anything at all (if anything, nth is something of a step down from some of the teams he was on in HoN, in terms of sponsorship, # of tournament finishes, etc.). Nth has way more potential than the HoN teams did though. AdmiralBulldog is a better example for breaking out as a player from being a pubstar syllabear only player.
