I know i need more resist/armour, but i can't find any gear on the AH that actually upgrade these. Any items you'd reccommend swapping out? Passives are Resolve, OwE and Sieze the Initiative. Gear i'm currently using. Any help would be greatly appreciated! EDIT: left my MF boots on in that picture. +75 dex +58 int +48 vit +44 coldres +49 allres +157 life/sec Puts my resistances up to 587 and damage to 11.5k Weapons fine, try to get a star in it when you have the star money. Then your life on hit is just fine. Attack speed more than you need, don't be afraid to drop some for a big upgrade. Armour is low, try to upgrade armour as well when you upgrade, especially try to find a decent blue shield that gives good block and armour. Resist could be a bit better, at least upgrade your boots you can easily get a decent set to give you 50 or so resists and some dex/vit over what you have. Mostly dex, armour is your problem. Try to get your resistances higher as you go but generally it's your dex and armour that will hurt you the most IMO. You want 5-6k armour unbuffed and around 1k dex, and maybe 550+ resist all. A few upgrades will get your past dalghur oasis you already have pretty good life on hit and attack speed so the extra mitigation will go a long way. I guess dex isn't THAT important but not only does it give armour and dodge but more damage helps a lot.

Crit dmg depends on your crit, if you have 10% crit it increases your damage by 5% (it's 1.5 x normal right?) 100% crit damage doubles it? Or adds to it? I'm not sure, anyway 100% crit damage increases your total damage by an additional 5% (or 10%) Not counting spells of course.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#UdYXkg!YcV!bbcbaY Currently farming Act 1 inferno with <100 resist and 3.5k armor with 26k hp. I deal up to 15k dps when all my buffs are proceed. Only having trouble with some shit elite combos like molton/frozen. I'm prioritizing like this 1. Dex 2. Crit Damage/Crit %/IAS/+dmg It is working very well. Looking forward to the act 2 a.k.a. the shitstorm according to 90% of people here lol

![]() Never had as much fun on my monk as I have in the past hour or so. Max dps builds are probably gonna be the way to go once the patch hits and all inferno damage is nerfed.

Really hard to put into prospective because of the way the blind buff scales against AS with that shrine up. Pretty interested in what your weapon dps is at, and how you find surviving the average rare pack with that setup. Im assuming they die in the duration of blind/serenity really easily... Looks like tonnes of fun for sure

Looks like tonnes of fun for sure Damage is around 50.3k unbuffed. I was messing around with the sweeping winds cyclone rune to kill bosses for fun, but man they drop fast (butcher <10 seconds, belial before first ground explosion). I normally have mystic ally swapped out for sweeping winds against normal packs. You can die pretty fast without careful positioning even with ~700 resist, but that will be fixed during the next patch.

I finished A2 recently, and A3 blue packs absolutely wreck me (for example, a Colossal Gorger (the abomination with maces) one shots me with all my buffs up). Is there a good spot in A2, or is it more Butcher runs? Could always try maghda runs instead of butcher runs. I know a lot of people just farm boring gold goblins and such.

Monks by Blizzard definition are not meant to tank. I am fucking digging the 122k dps, fucking godlike. Right now im at 18k with 400dps weapons duel wield. Shit can't kill you if it dies faster then 7 seconds.

The best part is that this way I can share gear between my DH and monk. I've seen barbs do it by kiting him around while Tyrael kills him. Pretty cheesy, but it gets the job done... just make sure to stay around one of the pits since if he has a straight line to you and is within range he will charge you and you will die. edit: probably doesn't work anymore with the Tyrael nerfs

I feel like a endgame-level monk should be able to tank well and should learn to balance/maximize his tanking capability and dps output. I think little will change if you are a good Monk who's been playing Act 3 and Act 4. The only thing I see myself doing with the patch is reducing my vitality a slight bit for more dexterity. A1 and A2 Monk farmers will simply have a much easier time without having good gear now and get away with their dps-oriented build even more. I think it will be more profitable in the end to upgrade your gear and use the skills necessary to be a good enough tank with a decent base damage output (16k-20k) so that you can clear Act 3 and Act 4 well. A1 and A2 simply won't be that profitable, even if you can do it much faster, the good drops are just going to be too rare. If you want to do a lot of damage and die in 1 hit, why not just play a Demon Hunter?

It's fun but the thing is you can't solo the game as it is now with that gear and build, I'm 100% sure of it. It's a bad investment if you are gearing yourself (which it looks like you are) purely to be a good damage dealer and you die extremely easily. Unless you are planning to reroll with a DH. There are so many elite packs you can't do with this build... even if your dps was legit (you are using a frenzy shrine and the blind 3 second buff on that screenshot, so a lot of that dps there you don't have with you most of the time). I can't see you farming A3-A4 profitably at all - I imagine you abusing doors like Demon Hunters do. Anyway, I did a fun ss like this too, but with 1h/shield and no dps-boosting shrine :D ![]()

Yeah this guy with 120k DPS and 700 resist all is certainly doing better than the guys stuck in act 2 with 450 resist all and 10 k DPS, who woulda thought? Obviously DPS is great because it lets you clear stuff faster.

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WhXgRc!YZX!ZaYaac In terms of theory crafting a build based around crits like this seems like the ultimate build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#ahiefX!YWX!YaYY.Z Basically with very high crit chance and attack speed without loosing too much res, armor, health and life on hit, you basically have a spirit generating monster that uses cyclone strike as survivability by spaming it, and wave of light should crit almost every time you hit. Also crit dmg would be very effective in this building, increasing your dmg output by a lot.
