i've also tried FOT/quickening + wave of light + exploding palm + WOTHF/blazing fists + mantra and found it has pretty insane DPS, but i'm not completely comfortable doing mp10 with it, need to get about 100-150 more AR.
there is also the TR build which is probably the best way to farm MP0/MP1 for experience and/or VOA for demonic essences.

monk is in a pretty good state atm.
afaik, DH is pretty bad, they have it tough on higher MP, most of them are whining a lot. I can't completely confirm it since I only play a monk.
Agree with this summary!
There is this other "infinate spirit" built using BoH:IwtL and WotF:FoF synergy to get about 72 spirit a second when hitting with FoF onto 2 mobs. Mostly used on higher MPs (since if the mob dies the gen stops) So you can literally spam bells (the expensive spirit higher dps on) for 5 seconds, then until your spirit is done after. It's even a bit more 'work' to utilize on top of EP and combo strike, so I personally am not a huge fan over FoT:Q or TC.
I started a baby DH to do strafe re-using all my monk's non-ias TR gear and it is super fun IMHO. It's like TR monk, but less gay. Still only viable on low-mp. But I still find it fun after 27 plvls. We'll see though! High MP with DH is terrible since they don't have a good resource regen. Cluster bombs is ok, but annoying to use.

Hey man, you still playing? I'm amazed. I can't seem to get in the groove of using exploding palm, just not used to using anything other then aura + left mouse... ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
i quit for about ~4 months or so, came back with 1.07, leveled to p100 and now I'm still doing a few runs a day, waiting for new patches.

Hey
I am thinking about upgrading my monk. Currently i don't really have any money, so I try to upgrade piece by piece. Profile; >> Link << My plan was to: 1. Upgrade Innas Temprance to some similar pieces with Cold resistance 2. Get an Innas Vast (also with cold resistance) 3. Get a better helm (Maybe Natalya one for +dex?) 4. Craft some Gloves.
Do you think this is a good way to go or do i have things that should be upgraded first, cause they are terrible?
thanks for the help

do any of you guys think 1.0.9 will buff any of the helm/spirits stones to be on par or even beat out a cc mempos? i'm thinking the mind's eye has potential with an ar/cc/socket roll (only thing missing would be life %), but it comes with the % skill roll so it'll be better offensively
|
mempo is not actually BiS for a monk anyway.
a good inna's helm (good stats and AR) with something like 14-15% damage on SW or TC is superior. But yeah, the mind's eye will probably beat out both.
but who knows, I expect to see some new items, so there might be something even better :D
|
My favorite piece on my Monk is a 6 CC/7% IAS Tzo-Krin's gaze; it competes quite favorably with a Mempo's when you consider it's less than 1/1000th the price of a good Mempo's. Although it lacks a socket (which is usually used for adventure stats anyways). So on paper I think the Mind's Eye will be tops for paperdoll and effective dps.
I don't particularly understand the new changes though... are they implying Mind's Eye will now drop in Inferno with everything potentially at lvl 63 for affixes?
Either way, Tzo Krin's will probably become an even better cheap alternative to a dps helm with more ias/dex/vit build in a narrow ranges (again I don't really understand what's changing so I could be wrong).

yeah but in terms of availability, that's hardly feasible (in US). searching AR/SW without any minimum values yields like 2-3 results at most (FoT has less than 10). plus it's still missing out on a % life roll in addition to the 8-9% ias
|
I'm poor so when I get the knack to group ill just be an overawe spamming bot. Double resist on stuff like mempo, Nat's, even witching hour with 9% ias is super cheap. Main thing I fear is you get so much XP now on MP10 4p, I actually leveled on PTR to 90. Gonna maybe drop my hellfire and ruby at 90 just to drag the grind out longer.
|
well i dropped ruby & hellfire ring & the tr build at 80ish paragon. seemed like a sane choice at around 150k dps where i could pretty much destroy stuff at around mp6-7. with new exp values i didn't feel at all slower farming keeps2/3.

Been pugging A3 MP10 alright with my cheapo gear (in sig). Less boring than CotA and have gotten a brimstone or two every run. Still debating using a shield for grouping but survivability has been ok outside of killing myself with EP.
Still trying to get ias on a pair of gloves/amulet without dipping below 100k. And if anyone has similar swords to mine but with a non-red glow (like lightning or - devils tongue) let me know! I love me some elemental damage!

after hitting a wall with my barb, Ive spent about 100m gearing up my monk. However I can barely handle MP6 with frequent deaths, feels like I have a lot of trouble outhealing the damage taken. what am I doing wrong? resists/hp is around what my barb have, and my barb can handle mp9/10 with few deaths.

You're resists/hp might be close to what your Barb has, but your Armor is not.
I'm a little out of the loop on D3 gearing, but that's the first thing that jumps out at me.
2.3 LS strikes me as pretty low for someone without any other forms of hp/second (my preference is LpSS, which feels like D2 chain potting sometimes).

You could try running resolve and STI instead of fleet-footed and combination strike.
For reference, here is my monk that I spent ~50mil on that can run MP 7 act 3 with very few deaths (probably none if I am not lazy/don't piss off multiple packs at once), and I run MP 6 with no deaths: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Harbinger-1177/hero/16348519 I have half your dps but about double your lifesteal, and I have 600 more LoH, other than that our survivability stats are pretty similar.

I would recommend using Transcendence for one passive skill. And maybe Empowered Wave or Blinding Flash instead of Deadly Reach. Should help a lot.
Edit: Here´s what i run on higher MP: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Samba-1157/hero/50295

Transendance is pretty much equivalent with LoH if you remember to spend spirit fast enough (which isnt that useful on higher MPs). Imho, it is far better to use sieze the initiative (instead of fleet footed). It would prolly help to have some more HPs, and either more LS or more AR. Regarding the spec, i would consider replacing foresight (or serentity) with blazing fists (to get back movement speed). Personally i play with 3d spirit generator instead of serenity, with similar stats.
Since you are used to playing a barb, maybe i should mention that you should try to avoid stuff like arcane beams, exploding moltens etc etc ^_^

I'm leveling a monk right now and I don't know anything about them, do you have good builds for MP8-10 runs ? I've about 250M to spend, is it enough ? Thanks in advance
