Also mmagic, you're ignoring the fact that people have expressed issues with the enrage timers even with their current level of itemization. Even those players in this thread who CAN reliably solo A1 Inferno admit to occasionally hitting the enrage timers on mobs. If they gave up even 25% of their Strength, they'd be hitting enrage timers on mobs a LOT more often.

It's not a simple question of "if I can tank it, I can beat it". Enrage timers significantly complicate the issue of soloing Inferno because if you don't kill things fast enough, then you will die regardless.

Yeah it's pretty much laughable for anyone to use Energy Armor/Force Armor to say mages can "take a few hits".

Without it they would be getting 1-shot just like the rest of us.

i haven't run into any issues with enrage timers but i haven't gotten to act 2 inferno yet
you're pretty much required to run berserk with +100% damage to deal with elites anyway so i imagine as long as u aren't kiting them for minutes at a time you'll be fine

I'm not sure you can say it's required. Other Inferno Barbs posting in this thread have posted setups not using any of the 2 min CDs.

But that's one way of getting around enrages I suppose.

One thing I need to ask: what time is counted on enrage timers? Does time when you're dead count toward the enrage?

idk generally if it takes more than a couple minutes to kill a mob we just give up and walk around it lol

I just gave up. I finished Act1, but Act2 is just ridiculous. Even the trashmobs kill me in 2 hits (40k hp, 9.9karmor).
Now trying a Wizard instead. So, basically 1 Week of wasted time. Barb was so fun until Hell/Inferno. Its just ridiuclous if I ask my Friendlist and DH,WD and Wizards tell me they beat Inferno with Hell Gear and 25k hp -_-

People are not getting All Resistance gear. It is a must in inferno. Vit and Str won't be enough due to the sheer amount of damage your taking.

I have been farming inferno act I for the last 4 days and can kill all the champion mobs that are put at me.
My stats: All resistance base 565, 40k life, 11k in damage. My damage is a little low but can stand toe to toe with champion mobs and not die.

yea that's why i think berserk is a must tho
i mean the 120 cd isn't a big deal when you're crawling through inferno anyway, and the buff is ridiculously good and lets you kill a lot of stuff you otherwise couldn't

So apparently with the server update, the melee 30% reduction is now live. I guess it was bugged before.

This could be huge for us barbs. I think -maybe- with the current gear we might be able to solo through act 3ish. I could tank act 4 (wildly variant on revenge procs) but doable. With this damage reducer being fixed, my god we might be god like tanks.

Now, for soloing this helps us as well, we can stack more strength, maybe, just maybe go d/w or 2h at times. I'm at work for another 5 hours but I'm very curious of those in game that can test the fix.

There was supposed to be an inherent mechanic that gives melee class (monk, barb) a 30% reduction in damage to allow them to actually fight monsters. Apparently until today that mechanic was broken and not applied. Now it is, so go login and test it for us!! ^_^

Are you telling me that I have been bashed in the face all week long for more damage then I was supposed to ? Is that damage reduction buff apply on all difficulties ? I have never heard of that mechanic... is there anywhere in-game or on the official online game guide where they talk about it ? When exactly as it taken effect ?

Nice, looking forward to seeing how things fare now.
Is there an official patch notes somewhere? Looking around, I don't see anything official.

And yeah that mechanic has been posted on the Loading Screen Tooltips like "Monks and Barbarians take 30% less damage than Witch Hunters, Wizards and Demon Hunters!"
