You can farm the kulle boss for better items on average than the butcher, but it's obviously far harder to do. Like you, I get pretty shitty gear from my butcher runs, but I'm definitely not powerful enough to farm Kulle, so this is where I stay The butcher definitely has potential for great items, my friend got a set item which is great for wizards and sold it for 2 million g, so all you need is massive luck I guess.

Here's some easy-ish areas:
A1: Halls of Agony. All the mobs here are slow and melee, meaning you can do what Tobberoth mentions and overload on dps to kill things before they get to you. You can build up neph valor here too. A2: The bit right before Belial, there's a Purple (unique) wizard and 3 blue Serpent Magus which are pretty easy to kill (relatively, it's still Act fucking Two). A3: Start of the Stonefort quest, do the Waiting for Reinforcements event and kill the Unique demon trooper Dragus.
and obviously, killing aspects is the best

it depends on what type of farming you are going for... If you want 5 valor farming, i think SkeKing is still the best bc the champions are weak there. Otherwise there is the yellow you could find in Begin of prime evil that you could farm over and over. Pretty hard to kill in inferno but if you have a well coordinated team, its pretty rewarding.

I've been farming the Warden, then the Butcher. So, two bosses pretty close to each other, lots of good opportunities for loot. Do you have a Magic Find set at all? I have a set of ~120% MF (so 200% MF with 5 stacks of NV) I switch in right before I kill a boss/open a chest, it seems to be working for me so far.... found 2 legendaries in 2 days (not two whole days, I work full-time and have a gf so I can only play a few hours a night). Then again, maybe I've just been super lucky.

Critical Mass nerf:
"We understand that some of the changes we make via hotfix can have a significant impact on a player's experience, and we want to give everyone as much of a heads up as possible regarding how the game is evolving. In this spirit, below you will find a list of noteworthy upcoming hotfixes for Diablo III.
For clarity, hotfixes are updates we make on our end without requiring you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require server restarts to take effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch (including changes to tooltips). We will continue to update this thread as necessary as additional hotfixes are scheduled, so please check back regularly for the latest information.
Spoiler Warning: If you have not yet completed Diablo III on Normal, some hotfixes described in this list may include spoilers.
Upcoming Hotfixes
5/24/2012 Wizard Critical Mass (Passive) Fixed an issue with certain powers that had a higher than intended chance to trigger Critical Mass
Once these hotfixes have been implemented, they will be added to the most recent hotfixes list, available here: Diablo III Hotfixes - May (Updated 5/23/12)"

How does this affect the crit build exactly?

Probably not viable at all assuming LL will be nerfed to shreds basically causing it to never proc CM

Right now the build hardly works for me. Not viable anymore imo

Wait a minute, might still be working
edit: ya messed up, still working. Not sure what the notes are about.

AO is fine but I don't see it being fine in A3
KITE KITE KITE KITE cast AO KITE KITE KITE KITE KITE cooldowns up cast 2 AOS KITE KITE KITE KITE
whereas in A3 I expect your cooldowns to do nothing and its more just hit/run/pray.

Wish me luck for Azmodan, I guess.

Has anyone else played around with Illusionist + Mirror Image (Duplicates) since the FA nerf? Since Diamond Skin isn't too good anymore, I've been experimenting with it and I really like it. I kite with Orbs + Venom Hydra, and if I'm ever hit I can just cast MI and get them off my back, heal up with a potion or with templar, rinse and repeat. I was farming the butcher last night and had hardly any deaths at all, even against tough combo packs (one time I even pulled two packs at the same time by accident, and managed to kill them). It's great for group play too. Decided to move on to Act 2, and it's working really there too so far. However, using it basically means I'm resigning myself to being hit (once), so I'm guessing it won't be too good in Act 3/4 when I get one-shot despite Force Armor. I'll probably switch out FA for Teleport or Slow Time when that happens. Thoughts?
|
wouldnt be be cool if your illusion could have a chance to cast an illusion spells?
also, i think they should just replace CM overall. there are not much useful wizard spells that has cd from the very first place.
|
Yeah, outside the CM tanking build, I can't really see myself ever taking it as a passive. Whatever way they're about to nerf it will probably kill it.
