I want to start playing my DH again and I have a decent amount of money that I want to use to make a mf dh to farm act 1/2 in a fun way. Thoughts? For comparable cost, unfortunately no. The dps for 2 handers is just too high, and you would need two 500million 1 handers to compete with a 200mil 2hander dps wise (pulling figures out of my ass but thats the general idea)

clearly every analogy and metaphor must be provably false rofl and you guys kiting with frost arrows might want to remember that it's the frost arrow slow that makes it easier to kite, not the bow's aspd.

I use 2 1-Handers, and basically I run up to a pack, pop SS, drop 2/3 of my hatred bar of ball lightnings and blow everything up, then I pop a couple devouring arrows to regen my hate and rinse and repeat. Dudes with 2Handers usually pop a couple cluster bombs to do the same thing. I think I'm better able to wipe out white mobs in a hurry so that nothing gets anywhere near me than I would be if I was shooting cluster bombs, but dudes with higher burst are able to deal with elites better than I can. I have to kite elites for a little bit unless I get really lucky with Prep cooldown not triggering.

Once pvp hits (who knows when), do you think Bows/Hand Bows will out-do all the X-bows because IAS is the KING attribute in PVP? At least in D2, if you didn't hit max ias, you were at HUGEEEE disadvantage. Personally, I think it will end up as Xbows for MF'ers, and Bows/Hand Bows for PvP'ers. Is it safe investment for me to buy all the high end IAS items? Let me know how you guys feel.

Personally I'd wait for 1.04.

Although, I'm wondering if perhaps there are some abilities that people haven't looked at closely enough yet that might make LOH tanking viable much like a Sprint/WW Barb.

Although, I'm wondering if perhaps there are some abilities that people haven't looked at closely enough yet that might make LOH tanking viable much like a Sprint/WW Barb. LoH tanking is already viable, mostly through the Gas Grenades and Jagged Spikes Caltrops. The problem is that you don't have innate 30% damage reduction, and you don't have abilities that boost armor or resistances. So either you need great gear for armor and resistances, or you need Nat's Set for infinite Shadow Power/Gloom.

Therefore, is it better to just get a pure damage xbow, or the one with +IAS? i notice the +IAS xbow has lower damage. Im using ball lightning atm What is your budget and what are your expectations (i.e. what DPS weapon)? In my opinion, a weapon with +CD is better than a higher DPS weapon without. As for +IAS, I reckon it's not a useful stat at all if you're cost constrained - best to not filter for it even.

I currently have a blue 1350 dps xbow. Maybe i can try aim for a lower dps xbow like 1250-1300 dps but with CD instead?

You have Guardian Turret for a 15% damage reduction buff, Numbing Traps for a 25% damage debuff, and with Night Stalker you can have Gloom up very often. This is what I use for taking down Ghom: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#UYgkVe!XUV!cbYccc

One is weapon base damage which dex/attack speed/etc are modifiers off of, and the other is a modifier (crit damage) which is affected by what your crit chance is. You need to plug in the numbers of the two weapons in a damage calculator and see for yourself.

My current weapon doesn't have CD, but it has almost +200 dex and high'ish DPS (Profile). Since Archery grants you +CD if you use an xbow, the DPS loss isn't too major.
