So - Tasteless & Artosis = Tastosis Kelly & Artosis = Kellosis (sounds like a sickness/health related ^^) Tasteless & Kelly = Tasty (sounds "tasty")

I feel the exact same way. They already have my money too. I wont request a refund for this season, but I will tell them exactly why I dont buy the next one if she sucks. She has the thickest accent of all the casters I have heard and had some pretty irrelevant comments in the game that was posted.
I am totally bummed too because code A is the best field ever.

I'm pretty surprised that GOM isn't showing more support for its decision. Normally, from a PR perspective, you should project confidence with your announcement rather than apologizing for it.
eg. Due to constaints faced such as lack of time... The search for Code A casters continues... For the time being... We are trying to find the most suitable caster...for the time being x2
I wonder whether this is backpedaling due to the response here, or if GOM was on the fence about the decision from the beginning.

It really seems pretty disorganized though. I really hope Kelly does well, but that doesn't mean picking her was a smart decision. GOM needs to wise up if they want to keep running the world's premier SC2 league. There are plenty of other organizations out there who would love to take their place. This post is REALLY unfair to gom considering they just did the best thing that has happened to the community since launch: use new maps. Yes this decision is questionable, but they had a process for selecting foreign players for Code A and they had a process for this (tho it seems meh). You make it sound like they keep fucking up when that simply isn't true. They have done a lot more good than bad. Hell, they just got Intel to sponsor them. In an ever more common trend of mine, I'll point out what was said in a recent State of the Game podcast by, I believe, iNcontroL. It was about Blizzard but still applies: we're getting all grateful for something they should do. It helps them make all this money and we're just sitting here saying "wow, that was so great of them! I LURV YOU!"
It's not like major Korean SC tournaments hadn't broken the "new map barrier" before. This was incredibly expected and was just a matter of time, not some revelation.
Edit: Also, I could be wrong, but I sincerely doubt that they went out looking for Intel to sponsor them. I'm pretty sure it was Intel approaching them. That's the way it goes for big tournaments like this.

I hope she is willing and able to rapidly improve her performance and handle constructive criticism well. I was not satisfied with her past performances but perhaps she will take the casting role with GOM more seriously. Hoping for the best.

Im not taking sides but...
Its kinda simple really, GSL is the biggest sc2 tournament on the planet, its like the superbowl of sc2. So when people want to watch "the superbowl" they want the best experience possible, and alot of people have problems understanding her casting and also think her analysis is way off.
People expect the best specially when there is alot of free content out here with arguably better casting.
(<3 chill,djwheat combo)
Its kinda the same if TSL 3 would be casted by some random caster who people dont like do u really think the community would not voice there opinion.
Hateing is one thing but voiceing your opinion isnt bad.

How many companies do you know of that publicly justify their reasons for hiring someone? I don't know why people expect such bizarre things from Gom.
Besides, it's pretty obvious that there were a bunch of conditions that needed to be fulfilled such as, "Pay for your own ticket to Korea, drop everything (job, study, family, friends) and live here for X months whilst on probation, only get paid X dollars per month, find/pay your own accommodation..." and realistically there aren't many people around the world who would be satisfied. Maybe they only want to do it for 1 season, maybe they can't commit to a whole year, maybe they can't afford the flight, maybe they don't want to leave their partner/friends behind, maybe the salary isn't enough to justify quitting their current job, maybe the long-term prospects don't shine, there's a billion possible factors which people are blindly neglecting.
Sure it sounds all great on paper, but not many people would be tremendously comfortable with such a significant change in culture/lifestyle, especially without speaking the local language.

I don't know whether or not the news has gotten better or worse.
First, she's taking turns casting with Tasteless and Artosis rather than having dedicated casting responsibilities over code A along with Torch.
It's sad to hear that Torch won't be getting a chance as a caster. Although he's a tad on the shy and quiet side and doesn't have as great a sense of humor as Tastosis based on the material on the internet, he's an eloquent and refined speaker and public personality.
It's also a bit troubling to hear that she will potentially get paired with Tasteless. I love Tasteless... but who is the analyst in that pair? Tasteless has okay knowledge regarding the game but is more of a play-by-play announcer while Artosis was really the one that brought the (albeit sometimes biased) information. With Kelly's obvious lack of knowledge regarding SC2... who is actually going to provide in-depth insight? Part of the difficulty with casting a game like SC2 is making it accessible and detailing the depth and decision making of its strategy to a less informed audience. How does this pairing accomplish that?
Kelly and Artosis will probably be fine.
And still, even though it's official, it's still troubling that someone as unqualified and inappropriate as Kelly Milkies be selected to cast what is currently the most important matches for a lot of foreigners. I'd much rather have a conversation about how happy I am with the choice rather than how worried / skeptical I am.

You'll probably want to make a new thread with this, as I seriously doubt very many people will look this far into this thread (while actually reading everything) and end up voting. I do think it would be nice to have an idea how overwhelmingly we're against her, though. That would be a nice stat to pull out to show how bad the choice is. I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to make a thread for a poll. :/ Not if you outline the discussion and talk about it yourself. I've done it several times and have had long, fruitful threads that come from the poll. Never been banned or warned for it.

This is something that people really should be considering. I think that djWHEAT and Chill did a great job discussing this on one of the older Weapon of Choice podcasts. Essentially, djWHEAT was saying that Tasteless and Artosis, while totally awesome, should start acting more professionally because of the sheer magnitude of the tournament. Not so much that "we want eSports to be serious" but more that "they're not taking it seriously enough at all." GOM seems to be throwing things together just so that they can finish. It's like waking up one morning and just quickly throwing together some answers for the homework that you didn't do the night before.
How is giving seeds to top players who are actually going to be in korea for GSL. Giving seed to players liek Sjow is like giving a tsl invite to IMmvp and him saying i might come TSL, but i might not. Sjow applied for GOM house after the deadline implying he does not want to play in the current GSL.
Also GOM just gave us new maps and set up a foreigner house and changed the tournament format, all for the audience. So please dont make baseless remarks.

I'm pretty sure that if she didnt announce it first, that announcement would have been changed. After GOMTV read the outcries, of course they had to switch to defensive stance.

You make it sound like doing what works is bad. If i'm supposed to save a drowning kid and I do it, it doesn't diminish what I did just because I was supposed to, or that someone else did the same thing yesterday. This is an absurd argument.
Gom is doing things right atm. I wish they would have gotten another caster but at least they did something rather then run Tasteless/Artosis to death with the constant casting.

This looks exactly like Tasteless + Susie from GOM Claasic S2, but with one huge difference.
Susie knew a lot about the Korean culture and the Proscene that she was able to give us info and tidbits about the Korean players and such from a Korean perspective, not to mention doing on scene translation of Korean. Yet due to negative response back then they replaced her with SuperDanielMan of the exact same things people are worried about now minus the accent - lack of game knowledge, not speaking as much (Tasteless and Artosis would probably be the more dominant voice, and djWheat described her as almost timid)
kellyMILKIES bring nothing new to the table, judging by the comments of that last 70+ page thread and from listening to her myself. As a Singaporean myself, I'm going to admit that dropping the Singlish from one's speech is ridiculously hard, it took me 5 years of WoW with Aussies to be able to completely fix it online, and even then it's just so easy to revert back to speaking Singlish when with friends. And Singaporeans are hard wired to pronounce certain words the wrong way - it's been taught to us from our school days such as pronouncing "three" as "tree".
So I don't really get the point of getting Tastosis to um teach her the ropes? babysit? Not sure what the purpose is... Either way I don't see why they would gamble like that despite the news riling up the community as seen in the last thread. Best of luck to GOM regardless.
Speaking of which, time to go back and watch some Tastsusie again, good times.
