Huge step in the right direction. This at least gets things started, and is going to make the game much more interesting to watch.

Went ahead and bought a GSL 4 ticket out of appreciation.

We all have to tune in to show our support for the map change, they did this to improve game quality, let's reward them with massive viewership numbers.

Aiur Garden seems amazing.

Thank god steppes/delta/blistering sands are removed. I really hope scrap is removed, scrap is ridiculous for ZvP

I hope these maps are added in along with patch 1.2

well i hope most of the maps aren't extremely big, as much as i love a macro games myself there should be the threat of rushes here and there, (there shouldn't always be rushes, but zergys shouldn't just be able to chill and drone hard core until 5 minutes in )
if it wasnt for mules terrans would have to 15 hatch every game.

Finally, new maps.
I've been waiting for this news!
I want to try them.

Why did blizzard remove shakuras from the ladder map pool?
Let a man play chess, and tell him that every pawn is his friend. Let him think both bishops holy. Let him remember happy days in the shadows of his castles. Let him love his queen. Watch him lose them all.

Great to see GOM taking the initiative to balance the map pool more. Auir Garden looks like a far better version of Delta imo.

They used ladder maps during the 3 open seasons because everyone played on them, so that wouldn't mean that people would have to dig up a bunch of practice partners to play hundreds of games for a tournament they might not even qualify for. Even worse if you have to fly from another country to compete. Now that it's private everyone that's playing will be on teams to practice these maps with, so it's a better situation for the players, and the spectators will get better games as a result.

i doubt they will use iccup maps, using iccup maps is endorsing iccup server which doesn't have a license to host brood war or warcraft 3 dota. they are a business they are very careful not to promote illegal servers. you all do know blizzard is all about their IP rights these days. supporting an iccup map is counter productive to their legal case against brood war IP rights in Korea. its counter productive to their legal case and sends the wrong message.

thats why its obviouse to me they ignore the iccup thread on battle.net and this.

I have seen the maps being used on Gisado before and I must say they are better then most of the maps currently being used. About time for this change to happen.

Love the fact that they are adding new maps! Crossfire looks like a complete macro headache to me, too many cliffs. May give zerg vs terran some problems...

Others have already commented on the benefits this will bring to the game, but is it just me, or is Biohazard particularly ugly? I guess if it's a choice between Blizzard's beautiful but game-limiting maps and good but ugly maps, there's really no question, but I'd hope we can get both.

Tal'darim Altar looks very pretty though, very clever choice using those luminous hexagons, they catch the eye, really a new page in the eternal central designs that were on all those Brood War maps.
I bear this sig to commemorate the loss of the team icon that commemorated Oversky's 2008-2009 Proleague Round 1 performance.

Hello, I am a map maker myself (and now a caster) and I'm looking for somewhere to submit my maps, which would give me more reason to keep making more.

Lemme know via pm or here I suppose.

More like Terminus Re looks like a slightly modified Delta Q. I'm betting Terminus or crossfire is going to be the two most hated maps out of these, it's good to see them make a step in the right direction though.

The reason Delta Quadrant is so hated is because of the cliffs at the naturals and the short rush distances between naturals (the ones in front without the rocks). Both of these elements don't seem to exist in the Terminus Re map.

And Terminus Re does slightly resemble Terminus. The major differences is the layout change in the middle of the map and the removal of the island expansions in the corner (in favour of a new natural nearer to the main). And the gold expansions for fourths.
