Q. How did you talk to SlayerS_BoxeR on battle.net?
A. I looked through other players' match history and it was possible to talk to him. I added him to friends and talked to him when he wasn't busy. He was surprised at first, but I was able to join in the end.

Oh Noz, Boxer is gonna get so many harassment messages after this lol.

Q. What is your goal this season?
A. The goal is to get used to being broadcasted. I also want to play against EGIdrA in the round of 64. I made a new account 3 days ago to practice, and I beat him easily. He then went on to insult my family. I don't think a player with a known ID should behave in such manner. I want to beat him in the round of 64 and do a cool ceremony.

Woah, woah, can the real Idra confirm this, lol?

Q. So, you will not change your ID?
A. OptimusPrime is only given to the the greatest Prime member. I didn't win, so I should look for a next opportunity. I'm going to keep using the ID BoxeR for now.

Rofl, OptimusPrime is considered to be a title rather than an ID? I don't mind him using BoxeR though. I like to call him Foxer just fine.

'Battlecruiser master' IMmvp

Reference to that game against God Mode Flash? Aka MVP's greatest BW accomplishment.

Q. You're well known as IMNesTea's practice partner.
A. I'm his partner, but I play more games than him. If he gets exhausted, he tells other zergs to come play me. I must have played 3 times as much compared to him. I tried to play like BoxeRPrime, and my style is turning out to be that of the 'marine king'.

MVP was known as the practice whore and served to inspire his fellow teammates who achieve more than him despite less practice. I feel sorry for the guy.

Q. You're known to have very strong TvZ.
A. After I got knocked out, I became a 'terran QQ'. TvZ is very difficult, actually, TvP is very difficult too. I want 'terran QQ' to be my concept.

LMAO.

Q. What did you think of the finals?
A. I had to think for a bit. I thought about playing zerg as well. As it gets to the late game, terrans can win less and less. Terran either has to make a move early, or be strategical, or IMNesTea has to make a mistake. There's no way if it gets into late management games.

LISTEN TO THE MAN HIMSELF, BLIZZARD! PATCH THAT SHIT!

Q. We are expecting a strong showing from zergs this season.
A. Zergs found a way to win even with smaller sample of representation. Now, more zergs are participating, because zerg became better. I hope that trend continues, so that the development team realizes something is wrong. I really hope zergs have a strong showing, but I hope I'm not one of their preys.

Lol, BoxeR ftw.

Q. Is your goal to win?
A. Yes, but I want to avoid ST_Rainbow since I lost twice to him already. I want to avoid him until he goes to the army.

Lol Check.

Also don't freak out about TSL_Rain's comment on chamchi man and kimchi man. It does NOT NOTNOTNTONTONTOTNOTTTT refer to IdrA in any shape or form.

I thought this was hilarious as well, although I've always thought ITR was done with his service as he is a pretty old player from BW.

Racist a-hole. This guy is gonna be hated by the foreign scene forever, now.

Lol double standards. IdrA is reportedly insulting a Korean's family, calling one of his opponents Kimchi man, "lol! IdrA already starting with the mindgames!"

Little slight at foreigners by Junwi, "Racist asshole!"

There's a difference between hating one foreigner (IdrA) because he's a jerk (and rightly so), and lumping all foreigners into a category that he considers to be "easy to play" without even knowing them. I'm pretty sure that's textbook discrimination.

As far as I'm concerned it's like a black basketball player saying "gee I'm glad I'm defending a white guy!" Even if the sterotype is somewhat true, it's still racist.

you're only interpreting it that way because you wish to. when I saw the quote, I thought he meant "it was a good experience". you can be glad to play somebody without thinking theyre easy - i'd be pumped if i played a notable player on ladder, i can tell you that!

Q. Are you confident about the main event?
A. If you play me in the round of 64, it'll be easy to get to the round of 32

When you consider the question that was asked of him I don't see how you can really interpret his answer the way you did. The question was "were you confident that you would qualify?" and Junwi's answer was "my bracket was more difficult than I expected, but luckily I played a foreigner in the finals."

It's all in your interpretation of the word "good." Either he means the experience of playing a foreigner was good (fun), or it was good (beneficial) for his chances of advancing that he played a foreigner. And given the context of the question, the latter interpretation makes more sense.

I guess what I'd really like is for a Korean speaker to come in here and clarify what has apparently been lost in translation.

After reading this I that hope IdrA looses in the Ro64, raging is one thing, some people just need it, but that here is a whole different level of it.

- 오늘 통과할 자신은 있었나
▲ 조가 생각 보다 괜찮았다. 마지막 결승에서도 외국인 선수를 만났던게 오히려 괜찮았던 것 같다.

That is straight copy pasted from the original article.

To be more detailed in my translation, he says that playing a foreigner in the final match turned out in his favour / relieved that he played a foreigner / lucky that he drew a foreigner.

I think all 3 mean relatively same things unless I'm wrong...

[edit] he does mention 오히려 which means 'unexpectedly' so I don't think he dissed foreigners on purpose.

Thank you very much. Those three translations do all mean pretty much the same thing. He probably didn't mean to insult foreigners, or at least didn't think that we would ever read/hear about his interview, but to be honest I feel insulted.

The fact that he thinks it was lucky/favorable for him to play a foreigner means he assumes all foreigners are worse players than he is; hence my initial outrage. It's very rude of him to make assumptions like that, especially about people he knows nothing about (Kiwikaki in this case). You know, forget that Kiwikaki had advanced the finals the same way he did; because he's a foreigner he must be bad.

I do not like Junwi after this.

seems to me it's that it was unexpectedly lucky that he played against a foreigner, which would mean he originally thought he'd be unlucky to match against a foreigner. i guess we just assume different things about people though, you assume the worst and i assume people aren't out to insult everyone.

It's unfortunate that Protoss' best chance at a high seed (Genius) is so disliked in Korea. With the way Protoss is playing they should help each other out, not bicker.

I don't know what it refers to exactly, but chamchi is tuna
I read that it's an inside joke also reminding ppl again kimchi man doesn't refer to IdrA BM'ing Koreans and calling some of them kimchi man. This is a different story apparently.

Shi bal (shee bah in your case) means shit / fuck. Koreans use it, all the time, everywhere.
