Also, if there's reason to believe Kavanaugh is lying and your boss won't let you investigate, you probably shouldn't want to keep working for someone who would put a liar (not to mention the piling up of sexual assault allegations) on the SCOTUS before allowing a reasonable suspicion to be investigated. More so if they point at politics as an excuse. I wasn't leaving Sessions out of my criticism before either. I’m saying they don’t investigate things the DOJ says they are not going to investigate.

But not that they can't, unless we're incriminating the DOJ in every illegal investigation the FBI does as well.
EDIT: Which it appears you were not doing. So then my point stands.

The FBI’s level of involvement is irrelevant. The SJC has a ton of investigative resources and personnel at its disposal. These people have been following up on every allegation. There is nothing extra that FBI involvement would add.

Since when does the senate have investigative resources? Let alone a lot of investigative resources?

Looks like Swetnick’s claims aren’t getting much traction. If anything, she and Avenatti may have screwed the pooch big time and have succeeded in doing little other than convincing people that all of these baseless allegations are merely a political ploy.

Congress is notoriously understaff for investigations and relies on the GBI to provide evidence that is outside their ability to get. It’s why they rely on the FBI to provide them almost everything in both the Clinton and Russia investigation.

I'm hearing Republicans came through with some people to jump on the Ford grenade (maybe it's really them). Kavanaugh should be out of committee by Friday and this will probably hurt Democrats overall.
Today is going to be a total shit show all around though should be some terribly embarrassing high (low?)lights.

That would be too epic a fail for even the Democrats... right?

No. They think that they are going to score political points just by getting behind the accusations. But in fairness to them, they aren’t exactly wrong. There are plenty of people (likely not enough) who are swallowing this shit hook, line, and sinker. Just look around here or in the circlejerk thread. And even after Ford gets destroyed, it’s not like most people are really going to be aware of what happened. You really think CNN and MSNBC are going to tell that story? Of course, not.

It’s weird because the last nominee didn’t have these problems, like at all. Maybe Kavanaugh is just a shitty nominee with a ton of baggage even before the accusations?

Yet he's going to get confirmed and probably with a bipartisan vote?

Even Republicans are skeptical from what NPR is reporting this morning.

Well if a Republican said they are skeptical and will listen to all the facts you can put them down as a confirm vote.
One problem many Democrats have is they keep thinking this is a matter of making Trump disgusting enough and that's a losing prospect. Trump has the most stable approval numbers of any modern president. All these things do is make people too embarrassed to say they approve of Trump to a stranger, but only temporarily.
Another problem they have is that they think this is working politically, it's not.
I wouldn't be surprised if Doug Jones ends up being one of the Democrats that supports him lol.
Looks like Ford showed up and is going first, let the shitshow begin.

This Feinstein statement is sickening in its dishonesty.

The Republicans aren't going to have a stand-in question Kavanaugh are they?

Unless there's some evidence out there that we don't know of, the questioning of Kavanaugh is going to be pretty cut and dry, mostly to the effect of, "Did it happen?" "No" "Did you ever do anything like this?" "No".
