Many new ladders are currently rising and everyone of them got some problems. Carrier got its legality, WGTour got its Blizzard, Abyss got its PvPGN and TL.net got its secrets. Etc..
Point is that community is dying those days. No matter what you think, no matter what you do, its happening. Maybe dying is not the right word. It can be exchanged with "outgrowing". I think most of you here are visiting this site because of your friends and its just a habit. But, hand on your hearts, do you still feel the passion? DO you enjoy the game? I dont see any new strategy nor the new balance patch that would bring some fresh blood to the run rounds robot gaming. And I think that any ladder wont change this.
Look, you have WCG ladder here, its the WGT clone. Is anybody in there? You have Abyss, do you really play it? You have op TL-West.. The only fun is chatting and playing with people from your friendlist, ehm, at least for me.
And to the topic, if you really think that new ladders will be better than PGT I have short answer for you? I guess they wont. Why? Coz of missing Korea vs World competition. I dont expect much from the new ladders, none of those will ever be that comfortable as PGT used to be. You'll probably still miss some feature. Because none of the developers have the passion to make it perfect but working. And dont expect much from Blizzard. Take a look back to history. PGT had ~800 online players in the good times. Do you think that 800 "progamers" is worthy an attention for company, that cares about millions in WarCraft? Any company never ever patched a game that is almost 10 years old. Blizzard's StarCraft is afaik the only one game that has support for such a long time. It deserved it.
But I think its time for something new, like SC2 or DotA. Something thats worthy your free time, something what can bring you fun even NOW.
Yesterday I got bored and I made a maphack. Simple, working and undetectable. The cheat that we (BWP) feared for all the time of our existance. I must admit that we would have really big problems to catch it even with our beloved PPlug. Currently it works with PP atm and I have no idea how I would stop it from work.
So what i ask you is does anyone care of the cheat release? Will someone of you raise your hand and will I get the red card? I think that hacker always win. Happened in D1, D2 and now its the same in SC.

yikes I think you are better off designing cool things for BW, rants are not your forte evidently.

Hacks don't bother me all that much. Someone hacks vs me I never play them again? Word goes around, that player gets less good games perhaps? SC is going down, in the melee phase without a good ladder.
Today alot of us enjoy various mini games in UMS setting, Such as diplo. Most of us hardcorers will never leave as long as progaming is around. It's just a very boring period for BW right now. I'm hopeing one of these new ladders will have some omph and give some life soon.

Are you asking if we'd be upset if you released a map hack?
I'd play PGT if it came back
|
So your motive for releasing this hack is b/c the community is already dying. Might as well aid the death?
There are still many competitive gamers who want to play a freely legit 1v1. Most played pgt solely for its absolute defense against hackers. Why not be a hero of the SC community and create that absolute anti hack, if anything it will bolster the remaining sc community.
Id rather you do nothing, then to release this hack.

indeed
___
I havent said ill definitly release it. Question is, do you care about the game at all?

Yes I still care for the game. Yes I would hate you with an undying passion if you, as much great as you have done, would release a maphack. No I don't think SC is dying nor is strategy standstill. Yes, the game isn't as freeform as it once used to be...
Really though, this is outta left field, and I gotta say WTF yo. And that's bad news that some new really hard to find hack exists. I'm a lil let down knowing this.
High rant.

1. Map Hack doesn't outright win you the game. The advantage it gives you on higher levels of play is pretty low.
2. Thanks for making StarCraft see the next decade, by my personal rule of thumb, every time anyone says StarCraft is dying, it's gonna live anothr 5 years.
And yes, I still feel the passion, every year we have our Pimpest Plays (be they sanctioned or not), our shocking moments and crowds of people watching live streams, downloading VOD's, discussing strategies and so on and so forth.
I don't play the game myself anymore, at least not competitively, but I still enjoy watching it, playing UMS maps, or discussing the game itself. I don't plan on letting StarCraft die anytime soon, and I can name 100 people on the spot that share my opinion on that.
Releasing that cheat would destroy everything you did for the community, it would ruin your reputation as THE anti-cheat programmer, go ahead, but don't expect us to cheer for you then. Just don't. I don't see a point in that anyway.
We have long lost the faith in Blizzard bringing another patch or even SC 2. That's why we were relying on third-person programs like PP for example. But we won't let StarCraft die, at least not before Yellow wins an OSL.

hehe, i miss the old times maybe?

Btw, if you wanted a serious answer Ashur, then no, 'cause if you were to release this, it'd be an easy way to overshadow everything else you've ever done for us.

Actually im partialy a hacker, And I was in close touch with the bad guys so i feel like i dont deserve those THEs. I dont see any art in making tools. Atm its just a waste of time.

Hehe, thats what i didnt expect.

After you recieve the attention that you most likely sought after writing this post.
You can 1: release the hack. Every1 will keep playing, there will be threat of hacking, but we will get over it even though it will ruin many online competitions. Next generation programmers will eventually find an anti hack for it.
2: Don't release the hack. Self-explanatory?
|
EvilTeletubby, you know how Psychician named me? Even you are partialy evil and everyone of us is a bit egoist.

This thread is not about attention. Im bored and I wanted to know how much you care of the game. Not me. That cheat from the pure evil, no future "events" sorry.

What the fuck do you think gives you the right to try to destroy this game?
|
Cloud, how would i destroy it? There is already a bunch of cheats out there.

There are two parties to the hacking entity: the creator and the user. I feel that if I had to choose which of these are more "at fault", it would be the user who decides to use the cheat to his own benefit.
Becuase I am new to Broodwar, I love the game and how it's played. I played war3 and dota regularly for 18 months before discovering TL.net and Starcraft, and I never regret making the choice to switch for the older game.
It's fair to say that PGT's experience may never be recreated, but there's value in trying to recreate one, or to strive for something different and perhaps even more capable. I think there's still passion in the guys behind these ladders, and the players who are participating in them.

Then you made this hack for what, precisely?

To make an antihack you need to know//make a hack first. I made many cheats in my life, only few was released to closed groups.
