Yes, we like Starcraft.
No, we don't like hacks.
Yes, we still enjoy to play.
Exactly what were you expecting.

I think there's still passion in the guys behind these ladders, and the players who are participating in them. There is already few working ladders with//without official support. And they are dead. Why do you think that TL.net will be different? Why do I think TLTour will be different? TLTour is the half the reason those ladders aren't successful, we're waiting for TLTour.

It works well and spreads throughout the entire hacker community. And then you expose the lot of them and we have ourselves a purge. That'll get you remembered.

Ashur, just because you've lost your passion for the game doesn't mean everyone else has. Sure, a bunch of people have moved on to poker, lost interest or just stick around for progaming news. Many more haven't, and new players are still picking up the game. There isn't only the TL community and the GG community, there are still countless others who have fun playing BW every day, plus the huge Korean scene will be running strong for at least a few years. This game is by no means dead or dying and strategies, micro and macro can always be taken to a new level. I don't really care whether you release a hack or not, it's pretty pointless. I still play maybe 10-15 games per week (after more than five years, I'm still not even close to getting sick of it) and if I encounter some blatant hacker, I just shrug it off and move on. All you'd be doing by releasing another hack (and I'm sure there are other hacks that are undetectable by PP already) is enabling another bunch of hackers to screw up a few more games. That's like swiping your foot through an anthill - a senseless act of aggression, ultimately nothing more than a small nuisance. Thanks for all the other stuff you've done though, you've always been great to the community.

Actually the most fav hack was downloaded ~12000 times. BWLauncher has much more active users. But still not hundreds of thousands.

As for the DotA community, that's dying at a much faster rate than the BW one-- reference the CPL fluke, CEVO "season" that turned into a poorly-organized tournament (now discontinued), team hopping (and even disbanding-- ie coL, one of the premiere teams in the world), bad manners, etc. You won't be able to find a more persistent community elsewhere, sadly enough. :[

It's something (along with the nuke glitch) that was never patched in SCExtension.

Ok, wow, to Ashur, maybe there will be hacking if you release it, maybe this whole game will become as popular as Arcanum is... I know you never heard of it. But there are dedicated players out there. Once... a g/f of mine said: "Alright, this is too much, pick, is it going to be Starcraft, or me?" I replied: "There's the door" My devotion to Starcraft is great... and, while the thoughts of losing starcraft were not the only reason I said that, they were the main reason. If she said Diablo 2 or me, I'd say, alright, sure, I won't play it anymore... I'm pretty sure alot of people would do the same... As for your "hack". Maphack, right? Now, I don't browse communities of hacking fora and what not, but I think that means you can see the entire map right? That's... that's not GREAT. See, what I can do, is X amount of mins/vespene... and I'm working on altering the attack of a probe so it attacks for 2000 rather than 5. ![]() Now, wow, everyone is going to hate Ekips. Thing is... I know if I use these hacks, I would be hated, and I would get worse. I have the power to use 10k mins right from minute one, and I choose to rather lose if I have to... I can never cheat in SC. In Warcraft? I would so give myself 1,000,000 gold every single Dota match to piss off everyone. Starcraft? I would rather be killed by 12 zlings and be drone drilled than cheat... I'm pretty sure alot of people would do the same... And I'm sure I've played over 1,000 chess games, even though I'd rather play Shogi... no one plays Shogi. Only 2 people I know, and you know what? Every time I get the chance, I play Shogi... in this comparison, shogi = SC and Chess = WC. Both are dying out, and no one plays Shogi, but if they do, they find it more complicated and awesome than Chess. Are there Chess players out there? Ofcourse! For how long? REAL LONG. Shogi players? Yeah. As many? Probably not. Does that make Shogi dead and not worth playing anymore? Just because the community is small, or even near nonexistant, would you give up a game you love? And heck, can make money in if you get good enough? I search on Arcanum's multiplayer everyday in hopes to find someone... It's my favorite game... Starcraft's my second... Anyone that bothers to flame me for it... ![]() Sadly, no one is ever on... but does that make me stop liking the game? Nope. Would I like it more if people were on? Yeah, definitely. It's the old chicken and egg question... "If you want people to play the game, it must be popular. If you want the game to be popular, people must play it." You decide if you want to give the cycle a chance... A chance to let someone enjoy their favorite game... or to kill the game that is an extension of their soul, because that's how I think of the other game, AND Starcraft... and to tell the truth, if I would have played Starcraft before that other one, it probably would be my favorite of all time.
