Leveling has always been hit and miss for the last few expansions, i'm most concerned with the level 100-110 stuff.
It seems like most of the things that defined marksmanship and made me want to play it in WOD are gone now, some important stuff:
chimaera shot kill shot (those 2 large instant cast nukes) very high mobility 2 min CD
Having sidewinders as your only focus builder and dead periods where you don't press any button for 2-4 global cooldowns because you have no focus and no focus generator felt absolutely awful as well. I may get used to this or git gud and have it become less of an issue, but it being specifically mentioned in several MM guides left me with a bad feeling.
I've always hated Barrage as well, i liked the old hunter volley:
they seemed to add this into the Legion beta and then replace it with a shitty toggle autoattack-cleave that doesn't do competitive damage (i'm not sure how bad it is) - Barrage is tuned highly so that it's high priority for MM single target DPS and looks to be the preferred ability, so i'm sad about that as well.
Maybe this isn't always the case or you use another ability.. but then what? No more casting barrage single target? The single target DPS is done entirely by pressing Aimed Shot, Marked Shot and Sidewinders? That's three buttons! And then there's this..
There is no real multiple target rotation for Marksmanship Hunters. If you are using the Sidewinders talent which is strongly recommended, you should simply continue your single-target rotation
I've barely played with legion MM so take my slightly horrified disdain with a mountain of salt. I'm hoping that it's at least salvageable so that i don't have to come up with a new main in the next few weeks.. if so, then mage is looking pretty decent.
Stats are not helping - show this to any WOD hunter and they will probably have a brain aneurism Half of stats worth waaaaaaaaay more than the other half. This creates a big problem when gearing and is a part of why several specs have died painfully in early expansions before.
Whatever happens i'm extremely happy that i'm not aiming for mythic clears any more so i don't have to lose my shit over 5% DPS, spec choice, artifact weapon leveling for offspec and such - learning new class from the ground up is stressful enough already
I remember really liking the style of hunters in wotlk, made me want to have one at highest level and pvp with. Never happened though. Now when i play hunter, it feels very very sad. The class feels just bad somehow.
I dont understand what they have done with all classes tbh, its like they just suck at designing nowadays..
I always imagine marksmen being more of a "sniper" spec. There should be a way to build burst damage or constant steady better DPS build in the talent tree
Sort of wish they brought back the "dead zone" in vanilla. Due to the dead zone, it allow hunter to have bigger burst to compensate for their uselessness when enemy get within melee range. Then again sounds like hell to balance for pve though. Would feel great again be using a bazooka instead of a machine gun that shoots peas

I see where you;'re coming from, but... Shadow Priests are the best class design they have ever come up with <3
Oh i just wondered if the public one was released where everyone QQs even though its just sims and still has factors to account in etc. Just a nice baseline to see how close everything is.
Ive been playing nothing but hunter for 12 years, I've never even twinked anything else, so changing class is not a possibility^^ As I said, I don't even mind how beastmastery plays right now. I just don't want to be the worst dps out there, ugh.
Our guild is fairly casual at this point, we raid twice a week and usually get heroic done before the next raid tier releases. I personally would like to raid mythic, but that is simply not going to happen because we do not even have 20 people I'm not an expert god player, but if beastmastery is simply far inferior to marksmanship, I doubt I'll be able to stick with it because it will annoy the fucking shit out of me to have gimped myself. It's like raiding HFC right now (well, before the prepatch),Beastmastery is just not competitive at all and you almost feel bad for even playing it Ugh.
BM is the best pve spec no? I only follow one hunter right now that is Gingi who is one of the best. He is doing the Challenge mode runs with Fragnance hunting for the most levels etc in the new version. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/kazzak/Gìngí/advanced Here is his armory at the moment. So im sure you be fine with BM Yoshi
Well I'm not too interested in the numbers right now, I am mainly thinking about legion. According to Azortharion (my go-to hunter guy) BM is super bad right now
True not sure what they said about Legion but he has been BM on beta all the time as i been watching them practice the challenge mode runs. However looking at live right now, the 2 hunters in Serenity are both different specs. One is Survival and the other MM so im sure there isn't much deviation on live at least. Need wait to see Sim numbers of 110s in blue gear which we wont see until September i assume. Im sure you can still be rank1 in your BM if you prefer that spec
Will professions in Legion be important to have or can I do without them? Because I am leveling a new character for the expansion. Had a look at the Blizzard posts but I did not really get out of it how important they will be.

No BoP benefit I believe (outside of maybe engineering). You can craft fully from skill 1 anyway. I believe you need 300 for profession world quests tho.
All three hunter specs are relatively close for ST but MM is the the best for cleave/AOE so it will be the default choice afaik. A huge fraction of their single target DPS comes from barrage and sidewinders which openly cleave everything so they can AOE effectively without really changing much and without losing the amount of damage applied to the boss or priority target.
I can't believe this design got through the entire alpha/beta
