My guess is when the pre-patch go's live. which is normaly ~a month before the expansion releases. Thought so thx. No sense in coming back to wow earlier then.

I'm not sure how they plan to balance Discipline. It seems like something that could easily spiral out of control, if it can heal as well as other healers while also doing significant damage then there's a big incentive to bring Disc over anything else.

Issue is if its not healing as good as other healers or doing as much damage as other damage dealers then theres no point in it existing either. In MoP attunement healing was a tad ridiculous if you had heroic SoO gear since you could generally get away with just DPSing for the most part.
Attunement in WoD felt like it was in a good place since it was pitiful damage but the buff made up for it.

Filling a spot with 50% DPS and 50% Healing could make sense, I mean you switch around from 2 and 3 healers in 10 mans anyway, so I don't see a reason why 2.5 wouldn't work in a lot of cases

That's the other side of the coin. It could just as easily be irrelevant as it could be ridiculous.
The problem is that the theoretical sweet spot where Disc does enough combined damage/healing to be relevant while not so much as to be overpowered doesn't exist. It changes from encounter to encounter, as gear improves, and as the raid learns the fights. Hitting that mark is going to be nearly impossible because it's not so much a moving target as a bullseye that moves out from under your arrow after you've already shot it.

Yea I agree it will be very hard to balance. Even before you consider things like increased damage taken phases on bosses or stuff like that, especially things that increase damage & healing. I know there was a fight where you could get buff that increased both and discpriest was really good there, don't remember which one though

Resubbed after Blizzcon hype. I really did miss this game, gonna level alts for a while. Dunno if I'll stay the full 9 months until the expansion comes out, but I want to get a couple things to 100 before then.

The talent changes are sounding pretty good, not just "yeah 5 of the 7 rows don't matter"

As somebody who quit WoW towards the end of cataclysm, can somebody fill me in on the story since then? Or give a link to a site that has the stories of the last two expansions? It seemed like the story went nowhere in MoP and WoD but I was wondering what led up to Legion. The Horde and Alliance (or what remains of both) seem like on pretty decent terms again.

Yeah, I'll definitely be back for Legion, again probably not for the whole expansion, but I loved playing Disc in Cata and am excited for what they're doing with it. The artifacts look interesting, and I'm definitely playing a Demon Hunter.

Very condensed overview: + Show Spoiler +So after Deathwing, Garrosh basically went off the deep end on the Alliance. He kept trying to annex their shit, and culminated in him bombing Theramore (which pissed Jaina off something fierce). When Pandaria was discovered, there was an arms race between the Alliance and Horde to see who could exploit it first and who could stop the other from doing so. Their conflict brought back ancient demons called the Sha which feed on negative emotion (and war is awesome for negative emotion). The expansion culminated in Garrosh seizing the Heart of Y'shaarj (the old god that created the Sha) and using it to try to end the Alliance and all the non-orc/goblin races of the Horde. The last raid was the Siege of Orgrimmar in which you defeat Garrosh, Vol'jin becomes warchief, and he's set for trial in Pandaria.
Unfortunately, some dumbass Bronze dragon seems to think that Garrosh is essential to fixing the timeline, so he rescues him from the trial and takes him back in time to Draenor where he prevents Grom from drinking Mannoroth's blood and gives them highly advanced siege weaponry, as well as a plan of attack for Azeroth. They open the Dark Portal and start attacking, so we go back through to alternate Draenor and that's basically the entire Warlords of Draenor expansion. That expansion culminated in Gul'dan opening a massive portal and bringing Archimonde to attempt to re-corrupt the orcs, but we kill Archimonde and Archie sends Gul'dan hurtling through a portal to the Twisting Nether.
Legion starts with Gul'dan doing something that finally lets him come back to Azeroth and open a massive demon portal.

The hunter changes look interesting. It looks like they removed the standing still portion of Marksman, which I'm glad for.

Kairoz (the bronze dragon) was working with Wrathion (Deathwing's son, uncorrupted black dragon). Thing is that Kairoz was possibly looking to start the infinite dragonflight or something like that (he wanted to become infinite), so he had a different idea than Wrathion. And Garrosh didn't want to listen to either of them, so he kills Kairoz and runs off.

fuckin hell at least im sorta ready to become a hentai tentacle monster every 2 minutes nice mage "changes"

So, is that Arcane Blast mana cost a placeholder
Since iirc live arcane charges double the mana cost each time, so this would go 5->10->20->40->80% of your base mana, which seems a tad high

Personally I really liked old arcane but I'm open minded towards the changes. At least frost is basically the same so if Blizzard utterly fucks it on arcane and fire I can just play frost.
