Hello, Good Evening
First, to introduce me, my name is Leonardo Bego, I'm 21 years old and I'll try to tell a little bit about me and share some thoughts.
I've been played games since I was 8, Real Time Strategy for 10 years straight to be more accurate, but when I met DOTA 2 accidentally in 2014, my whole mindset had changed. As a tryharder for nature, I've embraced the journey of keep on practicing and improving at the game, watching videos and reading about it everyday whenever possible, but it took some time to figure out that I had to improve my relationships (so I can become a better player), that's when I created my Reddit account.
Just to clarify, since here in Brazil there isn't a huge Dota 2 Scene - Nor Guides, the first website that called my attention was Reddit. After that I have tried to always be kind and peaceful (I thought Reddit was a FORUM, silly Brazilian), just reading some comments and having a good time, no hard feelings, until some things happened unexpectedly at my life and I started to become more active as a leader. With great power comes great responsibilities, but I was under some recent stress from my parents, so I quit my job and decided to do what I really love: Work with content creation.
As a content creator, I have to determine which mindsets I'm going to sell to, but sincerely, I'm really upset with the minds that are through our community in general.
I would like to bring and discuss the following questions if anyone would share interest:
- How cookies affect your view to the market? - Why Karma isn't the best way to serious discussions about games. - What does show up on your reddit? - What doesn't show up on your reddit?
That's all for it. ______________________________________
Now about Reddit experiment, I'm only going to share some data for now:
My Reddit Account Before NEGATIVE KARMA MMR: 7500 My Reddit Account After NEGATIVE KARMA MMR: 5000

your post on reddit was not well received because you misunderstand a lot of terms, including "mmr," "open source," "source code," "pub," etc
you insist you know what you're talking about but your grasp of dota terms and the english language in general need some work.
i don't know what kind of content you're planning to create, but i am not so sure you should quit your previous job until you are much further along in the planning process.

Yeah, my main reason to create this Thread wasn't to be well recepted, I just want to get attention even knowing it is truly unorthodox to do so.

negative attention will not help you in your future endeavors
positive attention can only be gained when people feel that you have something good that you can offer them in the imminent future
i highly doubt that attracting attention without presenting something that people will like will help with whatever goals you have

I agree with all statements, Only would add that not necessarily you need to have positive viewers to have attention at the current market, but mostly because today all you need is someone to talk about you doesn't matter what.
I would like to also state that all those Twitter and Reddit "gossip novels" are such a shame to a seemingly respectful community, and I know that not all the players are interested in those discussions that are made to create such dramas.

Tuna, Just to be clear, my main reason when creating this post on Reddit was to show some of the thoughts that are surrounding it. We have the same problem here in Brazil, and it's becoming a really bizarre social problem inside Facebook. For an example, Government opposites are actually implying that the Army should take control over the country, and the mindless population that are surrounded by media and social network are actually supporting this absurd idea, since we live in a Democratic Republic.
I've also tried to present myself with the correct manners at Reddit, but it didn't have the same impact as this Negative "Flamming" Post.

Edit 1: Grammar
Edit 2: Reddit MMR keeps growing again to 7k, but them for some reason it drops to 4k. Now stabilized at 6,814
Edit 3: Where are you Redditors? Show us your faces!
Edit 4: 8k and growing

I have no idea what you are trying to do.

Uhh, I read the thread three times and I don't quite get the point you're trying to make/discuss.
You talk a lot about reddit, I'm not sure here is the best place to do so. I guess you should take a look at the Zai Thoughts thread, it has a lot of discussion about reddit and its place in the dota community?

I don't even know what reddit MMR is.

oh
the reddit mmr is the active user count (users in the past 15 minutes)
it's just a stylesheet thing
it says so if you hover over "(solo rating)"
|
That is the number of people using the subreddit at the moment. Every subreddit can customize it to say what they want and Dota makes the joke that its the subreddit's MMR.

Plansix: Yes, surely, but that goes to show that Reddit news system isn't balanced for content, it's balanced for popularity.

everyone knows that reddit favors instant gratification-style submissions, but that's not the reason your threads aren't getting upvoted; the reason is that you are hard to understand and don't offer much interesting, easy-to-access content
complaining about reddit's issues will not help with whatever you are actually trying to accomplish

Yes, but as I stated I'm not afraid of using unconventional methods to actually get discussions, and furthermore improve the community, even if I my have to swallow my pride.
Maybe if I've never created this post we would never be talking about that, or maybe we would never be discussing something that everyone is afraid to discuss: Shitposting.

people shitpost and reference the fact that they are shitposting all the time everywhere
on this site, it is presumably contained to the off topic general discussion thread and live report threads, but it is generally enjoyed
you seem to think discussing these things leads to improvement, which i think most people would disagree with
if communities didn't like shitposting, they wouldn't have it. most people either like it or are indifferent to it. the people who don't like it to the extent where instead of simply ignoring it, they complain about it and try to get rid of it, tend to be a vocal minority
on the topic of reddit: if you try to discuss serious strategic things, you will get serious strategic discussion (whether or not its good discussion is another matter). if you are offering entertainment, people tend to like it to be meme-flavored or shitpost-flavored, because people have those things linked with entertainmentin their minds. there are many issues with reddit for dota, but a lot of your issues with it seem to come from misunderstandings of the culture there rather than inherent issues. i imagine you will have these sorts of problems with any dota community you attempt to take part in, because you seem to lack understanding of internet forum culture in general.

You seem to be new to reddit, LiquidDota, and internet forums in general. I would suggest taking some time to actually get to know the communities before trying to start discussion on whatever you're trying to discuss. Also, don't want to sound condescending but try to improve your English too.

Or make it very clear why you are having trouble phrasing your thoughts because you are not a native English speaker.
