I def think the winner is coming from the NFC, imo Cards. I think they're the most well balanced team, and Arians is a really good coachj

He was categorically terrible when he played earlier in the season but has looked better (still not great) in the last two games. I understand the Patriots being favored this weekend. Denver's offense hasn't looked very good at all. But given that Tom Brady does not have a great record at Mile High, we beat the Patriots once this season already, and the Patriots aren't that far removed from blowing home-field advantage against the Bills and Dolphins, I don't really put any stock into the people saying that Denver has no chance. The defense has gotten us this far, and as long as Manning plays safe there is no reason the defense can't get us a little bit further.

Haha. Must be. I was pretty surprised too. They must put a lot of weight on home field http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2015-nfl-predictions/

Their ELO numbers are derived exclusively from the final scores (esp. point differential) of each game. Pats were suffering from injury in the back half of the season and were 2-4 in the last six with pedestrian looking numbers. The Pats had some of the worst injury luck this year during the regular season but now that everyone is back the injury landscape is pretty even. Panthers are missing Kelvin Benjamin and their #2 and #3 CB's, AZ are missing Mathieu, Woodley, and CJ2K, and Denver can't figure out how to graft Osweiler's arm onto Peyton's body without the NFL finding out. New England is now getting pretty much everyone important back except their LT, pass rush DT, and starting RB's.

His 2013 numbers were better. No, I'm sure it is because Denver has the best defense in the league and New England has looked less than unstoppable in the last half of the season compared to the first half. Plus home-field advantage. I still think the Pats should be favored because I don't trust Manning to put the offense in a good place, but I don't find it that surprising.
