I don't care what formation it is out of, it isn't going to work if Kap is anywhere near the top 5 in pass attempts. He is just too bad at decision making and throwing for that. I mean you might as well try since he is effectively year to year, the team has tons of cap, and it wouldn't prevent them from getting Goff if they want. But I don't exactly see a Kap resurgence. Straight up, Bradford and Sanchez are better throwers than him. And as bad as the team is it is built for power run, not the up tempo finese stuff that he runs. I would be amazed if the team got more than 5 wins next year.

And yes the Eagles were top 5 in pass attempts with Sam Bradford at qb. He cant run at all. Chip finally has the guy who can run (and can't really pass.....). Not to mention the Eagles also run a ton of plays. They were 11th in rush attempts as well. Kap is gonna run the ball at least 5 times a game. That will even out that pass/run ratio a lot more than what the Eagles did with Bradford. I would much rather a Chip Kelly offense run by Kap than Bradford or Sanchez. And I'm saying this as an Eagles fan who lives in NorCal.

I think that Chip's main failings in Philadelphia were as GM -- not as a coach. With the Niners, he's got some good pieces to work with on offense. Kaepernick is superior to any QB he had with the Eagles. Hyde (presuming he gets healthy) has the potential to be a real star at RB. The receiving corp is decent, too.

But yeah I get what you are saying about the allure of a double threat in that offense. Kap has basically been given one read plays his entire career because he can't handle other stuff, and he is always hovering around the bottom for accuracy. This stretched back to at least college. He is way more Vick than Marriotta, who can actually throw well in addition to run. Hyde is obviously a pretty good starting piece, but I really don't care for anyone else, esp at WR. I do not in any way think the skill position situation is better than Philly

Even if you think Kap is made for that offense, the other 10 starters definitely are not. That's a power football team and a bad one at that. And Vick did well under Chip too.
