Something the NFL clearly wants to sweep away from public discussion every chance they get. it really probably is now, that lb depth went from fantastic to total shit real fast. Their depth now is 3 pure passrush LBs and a one legged all pro. It also kept Ahmed Brooks' dumbass on the team. Can he play ILB at all?? Because fuck.

EDIT: Now that I've had 30 seconds to gather my thoughts, is this a difficult precedent for the league as a whole? Willis, one of the best to ever play, seemingly retires in his prime because he's worried about destroying his ability to walk later in life. Worilds signs a big deal only to retire at 26 one or two years in, and now Borland calls it quits after one year due to head trauma. Terrible for the league's image. EDIT 2: This brings a larger point that I have brought up in conversations with people but not here so I'll present it: does anyone actually like the NFL besides the product on the field? Besides the games, I really hate the whole NFL experience. The games have a ridiculous number of commercials, the league itself has a joke of a PED and recreational drug usage policy, the players are placed in dangerous situations (Julian Edelman, anyone?), and they have a terrible post-career life in many cases. Not to mention, they black out your home games if not enough fans go, it costs $10 for a beer when you do manage to get a ticket, and then you have to fight some idiot in the bathroom. What about this is well run? Why do I watch if not for the product? Does anyone else feel this way? I definitely feel this way. The two leagues I follow are the NBA and NFL. Adam Silver vs Roger Goodell is not even a close contest. The NFL has shadier owners (Browns) as well as more owners in general who just inherited their teams from their parents. The NBA currently has more forward thinking new owners who actually made their money themselves before purchasing their team. The reason the NFL is more popular is that the game's structure is better suited for fantasy, gambling and the TV experience. The people running it are terrible people, though.

But aren't there more shady owners in the NFL? One that comes to mind is Jerry Jones Snyder is pretty shady as well. However, I do remember the salary cap shenanigans during the "uncapped year" and both Jones and Snyder were the owners who were conducting business above board during that time.

Deadspin had a list of other candidates. It reminded me like going to the polling booth on voting day and being baffled at all the random crazy independent candidates. They all somehow managed to be more awful then the worst PA president in sports

How is what Jones and Snyder do shady? They just really like their football teams and meddle with them. Shady is Jim Irsay with drugs and cash in his car during a DUI.

Policeman, Fireman, Military, Underwater Welder, Crab Fisherman, and 1000 others. I would totally risk my long term heath for millions of dollars, and play a sport for a living, then probably talk about the spot or coach, scout whatever for a living moving forward. Perhaps once I made millions of dollars I would change my mind, but there is going to be no shortage of people willing to risk long term heath for fame and fortune. Ton's of people risk it for a good night out (binge drinking, drugs) or to look cool (cigarette's). I also wouldn't be surprised if a few of these retiree's show back up trying to make comebacks. I think this is a pretty wrong comparison. First of all the reason that professional athlets are making millions is because they can do things that 99.999... % of the population cant were lets say 20% (or let it be less doesnt matter as long as its bigger then 1%) of the population could be a policemen from their physical and mental ability. The job doesnt really matter if you are one of the 0.002% at the top you will get payed. Not millions but to make a comfortable living. Second of all the Jobs you mentiond are a necessaty to our modern civilisation. Football isnt. So a comparison to a gladiator in rome would be more accurate. Well maybe except the slavery stuff. So would it be ok to let people slaughter each other for our entertaiment if they are payed well enough?

Most hilarious one I remember was he was selling expired airline peanuts in his stadium.

Across the sport, interviews with team executives show a general shock at what's happened to the 49ers. That's the word used over and over: shock. One team executive said, "the 49ers are f----d." But generally, the emotion was shock. It is likely unprecedented to see a franchise go through this level of discombobulation. Some of the issues are blameless, others are not. Consider: + Show Spoiler + Harbaugh gone, along with most of his assistant coaches. While it's clear that Harbaugh did begin to irritate some in the locker room, it's also clear that Harbaugh was the glue. --Chris Borland gone. Had the potential to be one of the best young defensive players in football. --Frank Gore, one of the stabilizing forces in the locker room, gone. --Patrick Willis, multiple Pro Bowler, gone. --Michael Crabtree won't be back. Not a great player but had 68 catches last year. --Guard Mike Iupati went to Arizona. He's an extremely underrated player. --Cornerback Chris Culliver, who has had his own off-field issues, signed with Washington. --Dan Skuta, another promising player, signed with the Jaguars. --Justin Smith reportedly set to retire. None of this includes the fact that some team officials still believe the 49ers will trade Colin Kaepernick despite the team's denials they will. + Show Spoiler + ![]() BR I see more NFC west domination by the Seahawks in our future. Have to see what Arizona does when Carson inevitably goes down again though.
