Brief summary:
1) Enforcing European standards to local small-time producers makes them unable to compete with lower-grade import products cost-wise, effectively killing production, while failing to maintain quality. For example, I haven't eaten tomatoes in years cause all that's available right now is trash. And they're not exactly cheap either. 2) Extra bureacrats needed to man quality control comissions and such, leading to higher taxes. 3) Flat tax rate. Lol. 4) Big store chains everywhere, slowly grazing cash from the community. 5) Western companies buying out parts of previously state owned electricity and water networks, then having a hoo-ha with prices. 6) EU driven closure of reactors in our nuclear power plant. This is a really what the fuck moment here, we used to export electricity to Turkey before. Nowadays, when combined with 3), the costs of using a computer are prohibitively high if you're not well above minimum wage. Not a lot of people are. And I won't even going to mention electronics prices. 7) Gas prices are higher than they are in the USA. 1.35 Euro per litre. If you've ever heard a person from the States complain about fuel prices, it's worse over here.
Basically, cost of living is rising every day, with little to no quality to show for it. EU mandated production practices increase costs making local production unfeasible. As such, the average person's work occupation % is moving towards service sector. Coupled with the foreign companies' involvement, it means that the country is getting poorer each year. Reversing the trend is nigh-impossible with the limited amounts of production. The economy is fucked, hardcore. Service sector is not particularly labour intensive nowadays and young people struggle to find employment due to there being no new workspots being opened. We have 25%+ youth (29 and below) unemployment. People that have university diplomas are leaving the country en masse. Shit, people that don't have university diplomas are leaving in mass.
The government might as well not be there. It's not working. They just do what they're told by the EU government and that's that. As long as they get paid, it's all good. I mean, banning public smoking in a country that has a 60% of the population as smokers. Haha, oh wow...
Absolutely nothing is being done to remedy the situation. But hey, we have amazing alcohol tourism on the coast, you should come check it out!

I confirm everything nikon said. Anti EU sentiments are growing pretty fast, and thing are getting worse. I dont think we`ve had such rate of poverty in the years since WW2. Of course, we cant blame everything on EU, but since we got in everything is going downhill at a scary rate.

On a contrary, I find division offered by you to be incorrect. There are Russians, who live in Ukraine, and there are, of course Ukrainians. Ukrainian Russians (those Russians who live in Ukraine) are group different from Ukrainian Ukrainians (those Ukrainians who live in Ukraine). And it does not matter, whether if those Ukrainians speak Russian or Ukrainian, as many of them just do not know Ukrainian language on a level sufficient for a fluid communication - that does not make them lesser Ukrainians.
The only people who favour Russia over EU in Ukraine right now are mostly Ukrainian Russians, who have been fed by Russian mass media with deliberately picked news from events outside of CIS, regardless of whether if Russian Federation is or is not involved in the mentioned events.

Latvia went through exactly the same process. And I have to say, that is has not been better than now in my country since we have had colonies.

Yes I heard about that... :p
But to the more critical points.
Basically, cost of living is rising every day, with little to no quality to show for it. welcome to the real world. that's what is happening pretty much everywhere. people in Austria experience the same thing.
And we are one of the better performing countries in the Eurozone.
LOL @ gas prices are higher than in the US. I don't like it either, but taxing gas (~67% of the price of gas in Austria are taxes lol) like crazy is the way we pay for our streets in the EU. I'd rather have it that way than having my infrastructure crumble.
Ever thought that maybe your nuclear power plants are a danger and that's why they are being put out of commission?
Pretty much every other point is directly linked to the failure of your corrupt politicians. Why don't you vote them out of office? And change the fucking mentality of "corruption is ok". Got a problem? Bribe an official. That might have worked when you were part of the Soviet Union and a bit afterwards. But not today where you have to compete with everyone else. People are leaving your country because they don't see opportunity there, the pay is better and the standard of living is also better elsewhere. That's why you need to vote for capable politicians to turn shit around.
You got no idea how sick and tired people in Western Europe are of sending subsidies to countries like Romania or Bulgaria so that they ( effectively you) start having something like a state under the rule of law, not of officials being bribed and billions of Euros getting lost somewhere along the way.
The EU has its flaws, and they not small ones, but what you are describing is your country being hit with a hammer called reality. Why should someone have a computer, not even talking about a good one, if they are not making enough money?
And what do you mean by "banning public smoking"? Smoking in public buildings/restaurants?

What the fuck is your problem?

I called their politicians corrupt pieces of shit. Though that's, at least to some degree, true for about every country in the world ~ I never called >them< anything. And yes, if you don't like voting stupid politicians out of office then found your own party and/or become a politician. Apart from that there hardly is any alternative now, is there?

I see you are quite the optimist. If you don't start fighting for your voice to be heard, you lose it. Apathy is the exact opposite democracy is about. Meet like minded people, organize, hell I don't know. But if shit is that bad and your best point is that some external force is to blame for everything - things won't change on their own.

Let's see how would that work. Customs tax, passports and visas to enter any country to the west for starters. I wonder what the outrage would be. The problem is, there are people in every country that think they are fucking entitled to things without giving something in return and all they do is blame outside forces for their misery. The thing is that EU is not a fucking gold egg laying goose or a cow to be guzzled endlessly without giving it something in return. If someone does not like his life, he should do something about it, not cry blaming everyone but himself for his poor situation.
