'cuz he won the Norris once and has Quick covering his ineptitude on the d end while his offenses has completely wilted? that guy is the definition of a one hit wonder, he had 59 points the year he was on team Canada in the olympics, was nominated for the norris, then held out that summer for a $7mil/year contract. that year i remember picking him in my hockey pool an he sucked that whole year offensively. but all i kept hearing was he was still a beast defensively. but i don't know b/c i don't watch LA hockey. if he's still good defensively his speed will look good on olympic sized ice, an he'll probably be the 3rd pair defense as a shutdown guy, an killing penalties. edit: he was asked to play a more defensive roll this year when Greene an Mitchell suffered year ending injuries.. an the only thing i've read about him needing to play better in his own end, was the 1st month of this year.. can you really hold that against him when it's pretty clear the only players that showed up in shape an ready to play wore chicago jerseys? http://lakingsinsider.com/2013/06/26/player-evaluation-doughty-4/ PS this kid isn't even 24 years old yet, he's won a gold metal, stanely cup, an this past season he avg'd 26:23 TOI (good for 4th overall this year) man i don't think i'd want that guy on my team... <snickers>

Anyone can hit a guy from that angle. find me a video of anyone hitting Datsyuk like that an he back checked his ass off to make that hit that hit was ranked 5th on best hits of the year

tt, i think he's only getting a chance if someone is in some real injury trouble. the dumb political comments, people will over look that because of his evident skill. what people wont overlook is how he walked out on boston, and then didnt play for the isles. that shit, combined with his age, if he gets any kind of look, it is only gonna be one year and heavy incentives. he dug that hole himself 100%

Ryan Miller is the best goalie in the world when hes playing to his potential. And if you recall, that year he was. He was the only reason the US were even in the finals. The conversation in this thread is scary, Quick and Doughty are both incredible hockey players, anyone who says otherwise is flat out wrong. edit. Im not a kings fan. But I have followed hockey closer than most my entire life. Quick will likely start for Team USA this year. Besides it was his first few season in the NHL, a goalie cant be expected to carry a team to a championship,. Nor can you call a good goalie bad because he wasnt able to carry a bad team. what a ridiculous argument

Since Doughty has mentally checked out once, Quick essentially is playing without him. Without Voynov, LA has no powerplay and even Quick's magic cant carry them into the playoffs. As for Olympic goalie choices, what does that have to do with anything? Luongo was on the ice for the gold medal win, that makes him the gold standard for goaltending? Players grow grow into their roles, in the last two years Quick went from being a solid goalie on a mediocre team to an amazing goalie on a slightly above average team. And no, as a Red Wings fan I wouldnt want Doughty on the team. There are enough soft turnover machines there already.

Miller had one season where he was most people would consider him to be in the top 5 discussion and since then he's never been more than average or slightly above. I dont doubt that part of that reason is that there has been varying degrees of shit in fornt of him for a defense, but guys like Lu and Vokoun thrived for years in FL under much worse conditions. And while he did play great in the olympics, there were several other players who brought their A game to get them there
