@Inori: What is your explanation for the recent attacks if it's not the 20/month botnets?
What recent attacks? Show me the logs?
Oh, haha, I don't have any of that, I'm just curious and I find this thread amusing. But I did read about this so called "attacks". So are you saying Destiny was never attacked?
I'd need to see the logs to say for sure.
I'm saying that to initiate a botnet to take down home network either takes a lot of skill or a lot of money. So either Destiny has very powerful enemies or more realistically his ISP simply sucks.
Not just me, but literally dozens of people in the community.
Destiny is saying: hey, you can rent "stress" or "booter" websites for $15/month. That stupid kid that he talked to in that youtube video wasn't spending a lot of money and have very little technical knowledge. Plus, there are dozens of people in the community who have had to deal with these attacks.
Inori is saying: this is impossible, there is one super hacker, who had $1,000's to spend DDoSing people, and he sounds like this:
when try to explain your problems to me by comparing your "troubles" to the experiences of my great aunts and uncles who died in the gas chambers you just look like a douchebag.
Its just a poor strategy for getting people to empathize with the problems of people who have decided to play games for a living instead of getting a real job.

In case you havent noticed, Rich already got a response, even with his profoundly limited resources, in my eyes (and I mean, even subjectively), inori already lost.
Did I read it wrong? Wasn't the challenge to take Inori network down? Because if it is, and his network is still up, then he is winning the bet.
I'm not talking about this DDoS/DoS stuff, as I hold no knowledge on the subject. All I'm saying is that no one has taken down Inori's network, which was the challenge.
If you're too stupid to understand the situation/context regarding said challenge, why are you even commenting? Can't you fuck off to a different thread or something?

Thanks. Not sure about the ISP being the more realistic option though; saying stuff like "What you're saying is literally the equivalent of holocaust-denial" could anger quite some people...

get over yourself
What a disgusting fucking community, holy shit.
You are welcome to leave.
So we are all gonna start smart-ass comments now that have no content at all and feel good about it? Or can we just leave this thread to the people who contribute something to the topic?

its like you think you can say "literally holocaust denial" and people will think nothing of it aha.
He didn't say his problem is like the holocaust. He said what Inori is doing is the same principle as holocaust denial. Learn to read please and then talk big

My point still stands that this kind of botnet is far more expensive that $15 / month and thus nobody would care enough to pay that much just to fuck with some streamer.
It doesn't cost 15/month to rent a botnet. It's more like $15/hour. I think a typo keeps being repeated or something, not sure where the 15/month thing came from.
People get flooded for about 5 minutes, just long enough to be knocked out of a Starcraft game and get a loss. Then the attack stops. Then it starts again 20 or 30 minutes later to knock them out again.
Inori if you really curious I suggest you pay to rent your own botnet and send it against yourself. Renting a botnet is quite illegal (not to mention the sketchy money transactions) and nobody should do something stupid to prove a dumb point except for the person who requested so himself.

in the analogy of holocaust denial that he proposed he was the victim, and the script kiddies were the nazis, and inori is a holocaust denier. I was really only objecting to the use of the word "literally," because comparing your professional problems to the experiences of holocaust victims is fucking stupid.
The analogy is actually pretty clear i think you are confused.
