Like literally no fucking sense at all, its just mindless work for him. There is nothing to be gained or lost, if you want to do it just do it yourself.

Destiny's guide is fine... if someone is attacking you through Skype Welcome to the entire point of the guide. This isn't a new revelation, you're not telling Destiny or anyone else anything they weren't already aware of with this statement. I think this conversation does bring out a major flaw in the way Skype does work though. Interesting, *facepalm* That's exactly why this problem exists.

Sure, if the goal was to take it down for a long period. These rent-a-botnet sites work for 60 - 90 sec at once, with a limited number of uses per day. 60 secs is enough to interrupt most connections, drop games, etc, but it has no ongoing damage like a continuous DDoS from a real botnet would, hence why they can afford to rent them out for $20 to script kids.

Twenty dollars a month to ruin someone's internet, someone who relies on their internet for their job. Someone who feeds himself and his family with his internet connection. It's not a scam, it's a very real and very devastating issue for a lot of people. Do your homework before you open some childish grab at attention in a fucking forum thread.

About a year or two ago, there was a kid that DDoS'ed Destiny's connection. This was before DDoSing became prevalent in the community. How did Destiny know he was getting DDoSed? Because the kid skyped him and bragged about it. Destiny did his own research and found out that you could pay websites to saturate lines, though they would most likely only disrupt residential-level bandwidth. The kid kept on DDoSing and DDoSing, driving Destiny up a wall. He contacted his ISP, numerous forums, even the FBI, and got nowhere. Eventually he figured out that his Skype was leaking his IP, so he got a proxy for it and suddenly his stream was fine. He then tried to go after the kid, resulting in the Judge Judy story you might have heard tale of. Nothing came of it, but the DDoSing stopped after the Skype proxy went into play. Since then, DDoSing has become much more popular, kicking other famous streamers offline. DDoSers have disrupted the EG teamhouse, many LoL streamers, and more recently Stephano's opponents. All attacks have stopped when the victim got a Skype proxy and reset their IP address. Inori, you may have the technical knowledge, but you haven't had the experiences that the streamers have. There's a reason those DDoS sites exist - because they make money. They don't all work through the Skype exploit - I think they originally started by DDoSing XBox Live connections. You could be right - it could be an extremely trigger happy $500 rich kid DDoSing everyone in sight. But it's still a problem for which Destiny provided a possible solution. Destiny fanboys, please shut the fuck up. You're not adding anything to the conversation, as usual.

So, while whatever precautions you're taking Inori seem to be mildly effective, most gamers don't have this knowledge and/or expertise. The issue is real, regardless if you admit it or not.

What you're saying is literally the equivalent of holocaust-denial. People have lost thousands of dollars of revenue to having to deal like this. I've gone through 2 interviews with the FBI trying to get shit done. I've done tons of extensive research on the topic out of necessity for survival. For you to waltz onto the internet and act like you have any idea what you're talking about (when you clearly have no fucking idea what you're talking about) and then make a bet for $50 because you think you're hot shit is incredibly fucking insulting. If you want to try later tonight, I'll have a few friends who own some booter sites, I'll take on your little bet and flood you offline, no problem.

I just chuckled when I read his guide for the first time.. First off let's not get the terms confused DDoS and DoS.... the fanboys targeting you Destiny Most likely.. actually 98% sure .. do not control a botnet and are not performing a true distributed attack if they are show me some logs and I will forward them to my contacts at the FBI and we'll see what happens after a few months. So let's move forward with the assumption that you are getting DoS'd because this is most likely what is happening. Pretty sure that most people that ddos are using "booters" which is a pretty much a compilation of php scripts on servers. So the term DDos is 100% valid
