Is a Starcraft sequel possible?

I'd like to discuss if it is possible to make a better Starcraft game (one that would be worth playing at least as much time as the original). The game has such a strategy depth in openings, matchup-specific options and etc that any major change in the game dynamics would be seriously questionable. IMO, it would be like changing chess rules. Though, it is not an option not to evolve the technology (graphics and sound) and game engine but would this be enought content to develop a sequence. I'd like to know the gamers opinion on this... CAN there be a SC 2?

shasin Romania899 Posts May 08 2006 04:44 GMT #3 It will certainly be a SC2, but it is time dependable cause the computer industry is advancing real quick and bw will last at least a couple of years. It is a marketing fact that you DON'T release a new product that can eventualy harm an already succesful one. And bw still has potential, look at all these new team sponsors in korea. When SC2 will be released, Blizzard will probably hire some retired progamers to test it 10 hours/day. I am curious if Blizzard will try to redefine the micro/macro aspect of the game or they will keep the same old winner.
